MESSAGE FROM MRS. RACH

Hi Cushing Families!

It’s already time for fall conferences! This is a great opportunity for families and teachers to connect, celebrate progress, and set goals for the year ahead. It’s also a chance for families to share their thoughts and ideas about their child’s academic, social/emotional, and behavioral growth. We always look forward to conferences and value the strong partnerships we build with our families.

We are excited to work together to create the best possible experience for your child and ensure they are on track for success! Conference sign-up links are included later in this message.

Related, your child recently completed the fall AimswebPlus screeners in both math and literacy. These assessments, given to all students in grades Kindergarten through 5th, provide us with a quick snapshot of how students are performing compared to grade-level expectations.

Your child’s assessment reports will be coming home today. Please take some time to review the information, as it offers valuable insight into your child’s progress in key learning areas. If you have any questions or need clarification, feel free to reach out to me or your child’s teacher.

Thank you for your continued support!

Mrs. Rach

Pumpkins!
Please remember to send a pillowcase or strong bag to school on Monday if your learner will be bringing a pumpkin home.

Parents - if you pick up your child’s pumpkin during the school day on Monday, please let Mrs. Mirek know.  We want to make sure everyone who signed up to get a pumpkin receives theirs.

Precautions for a safe return to Cushing by Thursday, October 24 would also be a good idea. Carved pumpkins can be set on the grass by the Front Lobby doors.

All Cushing’s pumpkins have been claimed.  However, if you would like to purchase your own pumpkin to carve and have on display, you’re more than welcome to.

Directions for Participants

  1. On the BACK side of your pumpkin, please write the number 5 with a Sharpie Marker.

    * If our school number is NOT on the pumpkin, they cannot guarantee that the pumpkin will be placed by the Cushing group properly!

  2. DO NOT cut off the top of the pumpkin.

  3. ON THE BOTTOM of the pumpkin, please cut a 2 inch by 2 inch diameter circle.

  4. Carve/Decorate as desired.

  5. Return to Cushing by Thursday, October 24th, 2024.

  6. Come to Halloween in Delafield on Saturday, October 26th. Business Trick or Treat is from 5-7pm with Grand Pumpkin Illumination at dusk. Come find your pumpkin and enjoy the festivities.

Decathlon T-Shirts
Please hold onto your Decathlon t-shirt for the rest of the school year.  We often ask students to wear their Decathlon t-shirts throughout the year for Field Trips and Off Campus Events to make it easier to locate our Cushing Stars.

Dress as Your Favorite Book Character Day AND Buddy Class Day! - October 31
On Thursday, October 31, dress as your favorite book character! Bring the book of your character to share with your buddy and read together. For students who don’t dress up, you should still bring a book to read with your buddy. More details will be shared as the day gets closer.  (If you don’t know what Buddy Class Day is, your child will be able to give you the scoop.)

For the safety of our students, masks and/or pretend weapons are not allowed.
