In last week’s Cushing Chronicles, I described the Science of Reading as it relates to our new ELA curriculum. Along those lines, I wanted to share that the Kettle Moraine School District is utilizing a regular 5-year review cycle of all curriculum. This review cycle began in the fall of 2022 with the evaluation of our ELA programming. This school year (2023-24) marks the implementation of our ELA curriculum and program evaluation of Science. We are optimistic that this curricular review cycle will address areas of need that have been identified through our regular review of data as a part of our decision making process. At Cushing and in KM, our goal is to provide high-quality, universal classroom instruction in order to meet the needs of all students.

Lost & Found
We have a lot of Lost items waiting to be Found. If your student is missing something, there’s a real good chance it’s our Lost & Found. The next time you’re at Cushing, swing by to see if anything belongs to your family. Parents seem to have the magic touch with finding lost items.
Posters are up in the school and the students will be buzzing with anticipation! The Holiday Gift Shop will soon be here! It will be open for students to shop during lunch recess November 28-30. This is a perfect way for students to buy gifts for parents, siblings, grandparents and other family and friends. All gifts will be coming home wrapped and ready to go for the holidays. There will be a huge variety of gifts for the students to choose from, ranging in price from $0.50- $13.50. Shopping at the shop is completely optional, but sure to be fun. Look for information packets in your child's folder. A voucher form and gift list planner/envelope should have been sent home.

The pancake breakfast will be held in the cafeteria from 8:30-11:30am. Tickets can be purchased with the QR code (found in the below graphic). Tickets are $7 for kids under 10 and $12 for adults.
The craft fair is FREE and runs from 8:30am-1pm. There are about 50 crafters participating. KMSD music groups will play holiday music throughout the morning. The KMHS band will have activities for kids. Santa and his elves will also be there for photos!
We also rent space and are happy to facilitate your events, courses, or activities.
Softball Camps Offered in December
