MESSAGE FROM MRS. RACH

Greetings Cushing Families:

Throughout this month, we have been focusing on problem-solving and embracing responsible risk-taking. Students have become acquainted with the STEP problem-solving process through our student services lessons. This process can be applied across a variety of situations and contexts. The STEP problem-solving framework includes the following steps:

Saying the problem without blame

Thinking of safe and respectful solutions

Exploring the consequences of the possible solutions

Picking the best solution in order to make a plan

If you're interested in learning a bit more about this problem-solving process, we encourage you to watch this Shooting Stars video focused on problem-solving.

Go Stars!
Mrs. Rach

Forward Testing
As we approach the Forward Exam testing period from March 18th to April 19t for students in 3rd - 5th grades, we want to ensure that all our students are well-prepared and supported. If you have additional questions about your child’s grade level test schedule, please reach out to their classroom teacher.

A few reminders and tips for parents/guardians ahead of testing:

  • No Electronic Devices in Testing Environment: Please remember that electronic devices, including smartwatches, are not allowed in the testing environment to maintain fairness and integrity.

  • Option to Practice at Home: While teachers will provide practice tests in class, some students may benefit from additional practice at home. You can access practice materials here.

  • Encourage Restful Sleep: Adequate sleep is crucial for optimal performance. Please ensure your child gets enough rest in the days leading up to the test to help them stay alert and focused.

  • Healthy Eating Habits: Nutritious meals and snacks play a significant role in maintaining energy levels and concentration. Please provide balanced meals, especially on test days, to support your child's well-being.

  • Celebrate Effort and Manage Stress: Regardless of the outcome, celebrate your child's effort and hard work in preparing for the test. Your support and encouragement are invaluable. Encourage positive self-talk and maintain a positive attitude to help alleviate any stress.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our students' success.

KM LACROSSE LAX BLAST FUNDRAISER - MARCH 16

KM Lacrosse is holding their annual Lax Blast Fundraiser on March 16th. It’s our largest fundraiser and benefits all lacrosse players - youth through high school, both boys and girls. Last year was a record year and with that, we’re able to fund multiple items impacting all our players - from new uniforms and player packs for our youth boys and girls to high school girls uniforms and gloves for all high school boys, with alternate helmets for varsity. In addition, funds raised go towards maintenance, goals, balls and other equipment, to name a few.

Join the fun, meet other club parents and friends and build a strong support structure and sense of family around our players so we can continue to benefit the boys and girls of KM Lacrosse now and into the future.
