Happy summer, Cushing Families

As we head into the summer break, I wanted to extend our warmest wishes for a summer full of exciting adventures and unforgettable memories on behalf of our Cushing team! This week we've had a nice time at Cushing celebrating our fifth-grade Cushing Stars as they transition to KMMS, where they'll continue to shine as Lasers! We wish our fifth graders and their families all the best next year!

I also wanted to express our community’s heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated Cushing staff members embarking on new journeys next year. Their efforts and contributions have left a mark on our school community, and we're grateful for their impact.

Be sure to stay tuned for updates throughout the summer, as we'll keep you informed of any important news and developments via email.

Star Slip Winners!

Fifth Grade Farewell Information
Fifth grade parents and families are welcome to attend our Fifth Grade Farewell Ceremony at 9:30 on Thursday, June 6.  Parents & Families will be able to enter the school at 9:15.  

Unfortunately, we do not have capacity for younger Cushing student siblings at the ceremony.  But don’t worry - they will still be a part of this special day.  Cushing staff & our younger students will give our 5th Grade Stars a proper send-off with a school-wide "clap out" prior to the ceremony.  (The clap out is ONLY for students & staff.)

After the farewell ceremony, fifth grade students can take pictures outdoors with their families, classmates and teachers and leave for the day.  Cushing does ask that younger siblings stay until the end of the day, which is 12:35.

Yearbooks
Yearbooks were distributed to students on June 5.

Extra Yearbooks for Sale
We have a small supply of extra yearbooks available for sale. They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and payment will reserve your copy. Yearbooks are $11 each and can be paid for with cash or check made out to Cushing PTO.  Contact Mrs. Mirek to purchase a copy. She can also let you know if you already placed an order earlier in the year.

FINAL CALL: Lost & Found
We still have Lost items waiting to be Found.  If your child(ren) is missing something, there’s a real good chance it’s in our Lost & Found.  Anything left after today will be donated.

Medication in Health Room
If your student has medication in our Health Room, please pick it up on the last day of school.

Field Trip Fees
Please log into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to check for any unpaid Field Trip and/or Chaperone Fees.  Please make payment by the end of the school year. Thanks!

If you need financial assistance, please contact the principal. If you would like to financially assist another student with general field trip fees, you may donate using the optional fee ‘CE - Field Trip Financial Assist’ found in Infinite Campus.

GALS Summer Workshops - June 10

There will be one workshop for boys and one workshop for girls ages 11-13. 

Once summer hits, ordering school supplies becomes a distant memory. Don't risk missing the deadline! Order HERE and be worry free on the first day of school. DUE JULY 1

Thank you to everyone for joining our End of Year Celebration at Belfre! The event was a lot of fun and such a great way to spend time with other Cushing families. We're also so proud of our fifth grade helpers and musicians! 

Simply by grocery shopping this school year, Cushing has collected $120.60 thanks to those who have participated in the Box Tops Program! Let's get the summer started with a bang and add more families using the APP and Walmart to continue earning money for Cushing!

Lasers Fastpitch Softball -Tryouts for the 2025 Season Announced
Registration is now open and available for fastpitch softball for the 2025 season.  Girls entering grades 1-12 are encouraged to try out and join the Laser Fastpitch Softball program.  Off season work begins in the winter, with the season running April-July.

Tryouts are as follows:

July 22 - U8 from 5-6:30; U10 from 6:30-8:30.  

July 23 - U12 from 5-7; U14/16 from 7-8:30.   

For Make ups on July 25.  U8/U10 - 5:00 - 6:30; U12/14/16 - 6:30 -8.
