MESSAGE FROM MRS. RACH

We’re excited for Homecoming Week at KMHS and Spirit Week at Cushing next week! In addition to our spirit week, we’ll be having our first Buddy Class activity next week too! Buddy Classes pair older and younger classes together for fun activities that help build community, foster friendships, and encourage responsibility in our older students.

Also in the coming weeks, we will be completing our screening assessments for reading and mathematics. These assessments, given in the Fall, Winter, and Spring, help measure student progress throughout the year and are a part of our balanced assessment system. Results from these screening assessments help us determine if students are on track, at some risk, or in need of additional support, and will guide teachers' instruction. If you have any questions about these assessments, please feel free to reach out to me.

Shine bright, Stars!
Mrs. Rach

After School Spanish Cushing and Wales Elementary
Studies show that children learn another language more easily when it is a topic that they find fun and interesting. This year’s Vamos series incorporates useful and exciting Spanish vocabulary, culture, and conversation skills.

  • In our ¡Vamos a Comer! (Let’s Eat!) class, students will be introduced to the market experience from Spanish speaking countries, ordering food in a restaurant, and vocabulary to use at mealtime.

  • In our ¡Vamos con los Animales! (Let’s go with the Animals!) class, students will experience imaginary animal adventures with hands-on lessons “visiting” a pet store, a family farm, the zoo, the ocean, and even the rainforest!

Don’t miss out on this valuable opportunity for your child to practice Spanish in an interactive bilingual classroom!
