MESSAGE FROM MRS. RACH

At Cushing, we have been focusing on what it means to be organized and how being organized can help us learn and grow! Research shows that improving student organization leads to better preparation for class, increased learning time, and improved academic performance. Teaching organizational skills not only helps students perform better in school but also prepares them for future tasks in life and work (Gambill, Moss, & Vescogni, n.d.).

As a school, we are hopeful that strategies we are practicing now will help organization become a natural part of our student’s lives in the future. Our Star Folders are one tool we use to help teach students how to stay organized. Some additional ways to support organization at school or home include establishing a consistent homework routine, teaching color coding (using different colored folders or pens), breaking larger tasks into smaller steps, using checklists, and teaching students how to prioritize their tasks.

PTO UPDATES

DECATHLON

Decathlon

TODAY WE ARE AT  $19,810…LET’S GET THAT BOUNCE HOUSE

We need to reach $23,620 (last year) by MONDAY, 9/30 to secure bounce house fun! The kiddos were ecstatic in earning their cool treat and extra recess. Let's keep the excitement going.

The Decathlon, our ONE, big fundraiser and fun-filled field day, is less than 2 WEEKS AWAY.

It's time for all Cushing Stars to work together as each student raises $50 towards our goal of $25,000. This allows the PTO to make our playground payments and focus on "givebacks" - community events, teacher appreciation, field trips, winter event, movie nights, classroom needs, physical education day and beyond - without asking for additional fundraising efforts.

After School Spanish Cushing and Wales Elementary
Studies show that children learn another language more easily when it is a topic that they find fun and interesting. This year’s Vamos series incorporates useful and exciting Spanish vocabulary, culture, and conversation skills.

  • In our ¡Vamos a Comer! (Let’s Eat!) class, students will be introduced to the market experience from Spanish speaking countries, ordering food in a restaurant, and vocabulary to use at mealtime.

  • In our ¡Vamos con los Animales! (Let’s go with the Animals!) class, students will experience imaginary animal adventures with hands-on lessons “visiting” a pet store, a family farm, the zoo, the ocean, and even the rainforest!

Don’t miss out on this valuable opportunity for your child to practice Spanish in an interactive bilingual classroom!
