Hello Cushing families!
We had a wonderful first week together at Cushing! Students spent time connecting with classmates and teachers, building community, and kicking off the year with lots of positive energy.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to fine-tune our arrival and dismissal procedures. These routines are always a work in progress at the start of the year, and I’m confident we’ll work through any hiccups in the coming days.
We also appreciate those who have taken time to review our carline video. If your child uses the carline for arrival or dismissal, it’s helpful to remind them to:
Enter and exit the car quickly; having backpacks, lunches, coats, and other items ready makes arrival/dismissal run smoothly.
Listen carefully to adult directions.
Let a Cushing staff member know when they see their car so we can safely assist them.
Walk alongside the building to stay out of the line of traffic.

Picture Retakes - October 16
Empire Photography will be here in the morning on Thursday, October 16th for picture retakes. If you want a re-do for your student or if your student did not get their picture taken at Great Start Conferences, fill out THIS FORM.
Blessings in a Backpack
Cushing partners with a non-profit organization called Blessings in a Backpack. Through this partnership, students are eligible to be a recipient of the Blessings in a Backpack snack packs.
The program is designed to provide non-perishable food every Friday to children who would benefit from supplemental nourishment over the weekend. The program runs the full 38-week school year and there is no cost to participate. If you choose to participate, your child will receive a bag of non-perishable food every Friday which will be distributed in a discreet and caring manner.

Yearbooks
Click HERE to order your yearbook. All yearbooks will be handed out at school at the end of the year. Please call/email Empire Photography if you have any questions.
School Pictures
If your child's picture was taken during our Great Start Conferences, you will receive an email from Empire Photography containing a link to your child’s private, PIN-protected gallery. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam folder and contact Empire Photography (608-257-2941) if you need assistance.
There is no obligation to order. If you decide to order, you can complete your purchase for photo print and specialty products online. All photo orders will be mailed directly home to the address provided during checkout and will be shipped within 2-5 business days.
Volunteer Applications
All adults need to fill out a Volunteer Application to volunteer in the classrooms, chaperone field trips, join your learner for lunch, help with PTO-sponsored events, etc. If you plan on doing any of these fun activities, click HERE.
Fun Fact: Volunteer Applications expire two years after approval. If you have an approved application on file, you won’t be able to submit a new application until the current one expires. If you’re wondering if you have an active application on file, contact Mrs. Mirek.
Wizard of Oz - Looking for Munchkins!
This fall, KMHS is putting on The Wizard of Oz as their all-campus musical, and the director, Shelley Hooper, is looking to cast some District 4th and 5th graders as Munchkins! Students will be expected to complete a full audition on Tuesday, September 9th, and the audition materials are attached here and the QR code.

Youth Cheer Clinic
Join us for our 2025 Youth Cheer Clinic Hosted by the Kettle Moraine High School Cheerleaders!
Clinic dates are Tuesday September 30th and Thursday October 2nd from 5:30 - 7:00pm with check in to begin at 5:15pm each day. The performance will be at the Varsity Football game on Friday October 3rd, 2025, with check in to begin at 6:30pm at the KMHS Varsity Softball Field - Adonis Fields Softball Complex. Athletes will receive a t-shirt, poms, and bow with their registration. Admission for the Varsity Football game on Friday October 3rd will be included for the athletes registered. Cushing Concerts
The Decathlon, our ONE, big fundraiser and fun-filled field day will be Wednesday, October 8th. It's time for all Cushing Stars to work together as each student aims to raise $50 towards our goal of $22,500.

Every Friday is “Rock your Spiritwear” at Cushing Elementary! It’s a great way to support our school as well as show off our Cushing pride! All proceeds from spirit wear sales will go directly back to our school in support of the PTO working together to enrich our school, staff, and students.

Jr Laser Golf
We are excited to announce that registration is open for tryouts to participate in the 2025-26 Junior Lasers Golf Team!
Kettle Moraine Junior Lasers Tryouts:
Email communication with tryout instructions will be sent about 1 week prior to tryouts. You’ll only need to attend 1 of the below tryout dates and specific tryout times will be communicated. Generally, tryouts take less than 30 minutes for each golfer to complete.
