On a night of academic distinction and community celebration, the National Honor Society (NHS) welcomed a new group of exceptional students to the Kettle Moraine High School in their annual induction ceremony. The event, held on November 15th, 2023 in the High School Auditorium marked the formal recognition of students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship, leadership, service, and character throughout their academic journey.
The ceremony, attended by proud parents, faculty members, and peers, served as a platform to honor the hard work and dedication of the inductees. Each student's commitment to academic excellence and community service was spotlighted as they took the symbolic oath, pledging to uphold the values that define the NHS.
Principal Justin Bestor was the Keynote speaker for the evening and shared an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of leadership and service in shaping a well-rounded individual. The NHS induction ceremony serves as a reminder of the high standards set by the organization and the ongoing commitment of students to make a positive difference.
The pep band concert was filled with energy as students engaged the audience in fun fan-favorite music, and small skits and gags to make for an hour of laughter and great music-making. Congrats to our band students for a fun-filled evening of music and laughs.
We will finalize plans for our Arrowhead Conference. Team members planning to go to the conference should come to work on position papers, be reminded of parli pro, and do research.
We will travel to the Arrowhead conference on November 30th.
See you all in the Model UN advisory on Tuesday!
The KMHS Campus boasted not one, but two perfect ACT scores last year. One was later in the school year and was embargoed until November 14th. Congratulations to Ethan Onsager who earned a perfect 36 on his ACT. Audra Chesny also had a perfect score, which was early enough to be announced at the end of the school year. Both were also National Merit Finalists!
The pancake breakfast will be held in the cafeteria from 8:30-11:30 am and tickets can be purchased with the QR code. It is $7 for kids under 10 and $12 for adults. The craft fair is free and runs from 8:30 am-1 pm with about 50 crafters participating. KMSD music groups play holiday music throughout the morning and the KMHS band plans activities for kids. Santa and his elves will also be there for photos!
KMSD will be featuring David and other KM alums, in the next issue of the Communicator, so watch your mailbox! In the meantime, check out this great article (with a nice shout-out to KM) in the Daily Northwestern. https://dailynorthwestern.com/.../football-with-his.../
Eric Schimpf, Merrill Wealth Management president and former U.S. Army Infantry Officer, is yet another KM alum who is doing great things! Eric Attended West Point after graduating from KMHS and served in the Army. He was hired by Merrill Lynch right after finishing his commitment and rose through the ranks to become president of the organization. He joined CNBC's ‘Squawk Box’ to discuss his experience: https://www.cnbc.com/.../we-think-traditional-asset…
This “dates of importance” document may feel like your first Christmas present of the year! It can be found here on the KMHS website. You will also see the dates on the website calendar.
We believe it is everyone's responsibility to strive to ensure our campus is a physically safe space for all students, teachers, and other staff.
One of the easiest ways we can all help achieve that is to keep doors shut and secure at all times which minimizes security threats that may happen on school property. The simple steps of not propping doors open, closing doors you see propped open, and not allowing guests to enter the building during school hours other than through the front office, are essential to keeping our campus secure.
We appreciate everyone's help in keeping our campus as safe as possible!
Arrive early to park when it is safer and easier... and leave after the rush.
Mind your speed - the speed limit in the parking lot is 10 mph. Be sure to leave enough cushion to stop abruptly without causing an accident.
Give way to buses - they enter on the north end of the front entrance and exit on the south end.
Yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks - failure to do so, can not only be unsafe, but it can also have other consequences. The fine is $326.50 and 4 points against your driving record if you are cited.
Keep focused, and limit distractions while driving and parking. Always keep an eye out for other cars, late teens running to or from class, and any other obstacles that may come up. Be sure to adhere to licensing laws that limit the number of passengers for new drivers.
Park properly in marked parking spots, and prove KM kids can park.
Display your parking pass on your rearview mirror ...and don’t lose your parking permit. It is $10 to replace a pass.
Lock your car - everywhere you go.
Do not park in staff parking ...or risk getting ticketed.
