October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Thank you to everyone who is wearing pink today to show that we are standing up to bullying. Some of you might be wondering, "Why pink?"
It all started back in 2007 at a high school in Nova Scotia, Canada. A 9th grade boy wore a pink shirt on the first day of school and was bullied and harassed for wearing that color. Some students even threatened to beat him up. Two 12th-grade boys found out about the bullying and decided they wanted to help. That night, they messaged and texted as many of their classmates as possible and told everyone to wear pink the next day to support the 9th grade boy who had been bullied. They called it the "Sea of Pink." When the victim came to school the next day, he was overwhelmed by all the support he received and it was a powerful moment to see so many people wearing pink. The story made the news all across Canada and the United States, and now many schools participate in the Sea of Pink.
Calling all K-8th grade students who are looking to join a fun and challenging sport focused on developing all around athleticism, confidence and self discipline. Wrestling is one of the fastest growing high school sports in Wisconsin, and the fastest growing sport in the country for girls! The Kettle Moraine Wrestling Club offers three programs that support wrestlers at all age/skill levels. There are clinics during the fall for both experienced and beginner wrestlers. Wrestlers are encouraged to attend tournaments when they're ready and will have the full support of the KMWC coaching staff. The Beginner season runs from December through the first week in March. The Intermediate and Advanced season runs from mid-November through the end of March. Check out our website, www.kettlemorainewrestlingclub.com, for season information and registration. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for information on upcoming events and competition results. We hope to see you on the mat this season!
Attention all 8th graders going on tonight’s Fright Fest trip. Just a reminder to bring all of your items with you to the commons after school. You will not be allowed to go to your lockers when we return. Please gather in the commons at 2:45 for instructions and to meet your chaperones before we board the buses. Make sure you know your bus number! See Mrs Hamilton if you have any questions.
The KM Finnatics Fishing Team is hosting an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 29 at 6pm in the KMHS cafeteria. We will discuss tournaments for this year as well as fundraising opportunities. No prior fishing experience needed! Open to all kids in grades 6-12.

The National History Day club is a great way to make friends, and explore history through your own interests. If you are interested, or have any questions, you can ask Mr. Harrison. Meetings take place on Wednesdays in Mr. Harrison's room, 601, directly after school until 4:00.
Next week we will be having a spirit week! Like MLK Jr said in his I have a dream speech, “for us to treat each other well”, so let’s come to school in our PJs. On Tuesday the 28th it will be Color War Day. 6th grade will wear orange, 7th grade will wear purple, and 8th grade will wear black. This represents no bullying, no wars, just be together in unity. On Wednesday the 29th it will be white out day to white out all rudeness, unkindness, and bullying. So make sure to wear white! Then on Thursday the 30th wear a spooky hat or make your hair spooky! Spook away bullying with your spooky hair or hat. Lastly, on Friday the 31st wear your halloween costume or wear halloween colors. Don’t mask your feelings, so speak up for others and yourself! On a secret day next week whichever grade participates most on the secret day will win a prize. We have a fun week ahead of us so make sure to dress up and remember no rudeness, unkindness, and bullying.
