THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

flag

PLEASE STAND FOR THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

PLINKO AND ATTENDANCE

Attention Students! We are excited to announce a new incentive this school year to celebrate good attendance! Afterall, the connection between attendance and student success is HUGE! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically.

Every month, we will randomly draw 20 student names from those who have either maintained 95% attendance (1 or less days per month) or shown improved attendance from the previous month. Even if your attendance wasn’t the best in September, you still have a chance! Just show improvement in October, and you could be one of our next winners.

Today, we are congratulating our September winners! If your name is called, please come down to the Cafeteria (by the windows to 4 square) to play PLINKO for a chance to win one of several awesome prizes.

Good luck, and keep showing up!

EXPERIENCE THE TRADES EXPO

8th Graders - If you're interested in hands-on experiences with trades such as welding, cement work, carpentry, automation, and engineering, consider attending the Trade Expo Field Trip!  This event takes place at the Waukesha County Expo Center on Thursday, October 10th.  Students who attend will eat during 7th grade lunch that day (starting at 10:30), and will be gone from the middle school from 10:50-1:55.  This is a great opportunity to connect with local employers and learn about career paths in the trades!  To claim your spot, have a parent sign you up on the parent portal of Infinite Campus.  The fee is called "MS 8th Gr Optional Career Fair."  Any questions?  Contact Mr. Korb at korbstephen@kmsd.edu

HOPE TO WALK

Did you know...

  • There are 35 million amputees and disabled people worldwide who need prosthetic devices but do not have access to them?

  • Traditional prosthetic legs cost between $10,000-$25,000 -- an unattainable price for someone making $3 per day

8th graders in Healthy & Active Lifestyles are participating in a 5K to raise awareness for Hope to Walk. Hope to Walk is a non-profit organization that helps the impoverished people of the world. Millions of amputees worldwide depend on wheelchairs and crutches. Some are even forced to crawl simply because they cannot afford prosthetics. Please consider donating. See the signs around school or get the link in the announcements for more details and to make a donation.

Last year, we raised over $500 and were able to provide 2 prosthetic legs! The recipients were Francisco (age 62) and Mercedes del Carmen (age 64) both from Honduras.  Please consider donating!
