Pew Research Center reports that, as of 2023, Public K-12 schools in the United States educate about 7.3 million students with disabilities – a number that has grown over the last few decades. Students with disabilities, ages 3 to 21, are served under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which guarantees them the right to free public education and appropriate special education services. The number of students with disabilities grew from 6.4 million in 2010 to 7.3 million in 2023, an increase from 13% to 15% of the student population. The largest category in this group is students with a specific learning disability, such as dyslexia. Other common categories include speech impairments, autism, or other health impairments.
Please check your lockers and backpacks for ice packs that you may have borrowed. We are running low and need to get the packs back, or we won’t be able to provide them to students who need them.
