Light in the Darkness Fundraiser

In honor of National Children’s Grief Awareness Day, which is this Thursday, we are taking time to recognize and support those who are grieving the loss of a loved one or experiencing extreme hardship. This is a chance to remind our grieving friends that they are not forgotten and that we care about them.

How can we support someone who is grieving?
You can ask how they’re doing, tell them you care, and listen if they want to talk — but don’t pressure them to share or expect them to “just get over it.” Everyone’s grief looks different, and even a simple gesture, like offering a hug, can mean a lot.

Please stop by our Wall of Support in the cafeteria this week to honor someone you’ve lost or to write a message of encouragement for others who may be grieving.

As another way to show your support, bring your dollars or coins to your Structured Study class to contribute to our Light in the Darkness Fundraiser, which supports KMMS students and families facing loss or significant hardship. The Structured Study with the most donations in each grade and the top Structured Study in Create will win a mystery prize! Our schoolwide goal is to raise $800. Please share this important fundraiser with your parents as well.

Throughout the week, you’ll notice butterflies displayed around the building with thoughtful messages about grief and hope — see how many you can find! Be sure to wear something blue this Thursday to show your support for those who are grieving.
