Lines to prepare:
Warbucks: I was in Tiffany’s yesterday and picked this up for you.
Annie: For me? Gee, thanks, Mr. Warbucks.
(opens up package and looks at the gift. She is clearly unhappy with it, but pretends to like it)
Oh. Gee.
Warbucks: It’s a silver locket, Annie. I noticed that old, broken one you always wear, and I said to myself, “I’m going to get that kid a nice new locket.” Here, we’ll just take this old one off and…..
Annie: No! I don’t want a new one!
Warbucks: Annie, what is it?
Annie: This locket, my Mom and Dad left it...when they left me at the Orphanage. And a note, too. They’re coming back for me. I know I’m real lucky, being here with you for Christmas. But...the one thing I want in all the world...is to find my mother and father. And to be like other kids, with folks of my own.

KMMS Student Senate is sponsoring a supply drive for Children's Hospital, led by 8th grader Iris Fouts! The purpose of this drive is to collect books, arts & crafts, and other activities for patients and family members of patients who are in isolation in the ICU at Children's. Here's what Iris had to say about it:
"I was inspired to start this supply drive because I have had the experience of being in the hospital over the holidays while my brother was receiving treatment in the ICU. Being in isolation can be hard for siblings because we aren't allowed to do things that kids outside of isolation can do. Because of this, I want to help make the holidays a little brighter for people in isolation."

KMSD music groups will be playing holiday music throughout the morning and the KMHS band plans activities for kids. Santa and his elves will also be there for photos! It is a great day to be a Laser, when we treat one another well. Good morning KMMS students and happy Friday. A few weeks ago we had an announcement giving a shout-out to our students for how well they did on our state testing last spring and that we received a great school report card. Once again, we have one of the best middle schools in the state. To be one of the best middle schools in the state, we need to continue to talk about and to hold ourselves to high expectations. When we talk about high expectations, and treating each other well, we discuss things that are not only important in middle school, but things that will be important in high school and in the workplace one day.
I want to take a moment to give our students another shout-out. Our year-to-date attendance rate for this school year has been awesome. It is actually higher than last year and sits at just below 96%. Attendance is crucial for your learning and progress, and attendance will be important in your future jobs. Unless you're extremely ill, have a fever and/or vomiting, it is important you are at school as much as possible. Keep up the great work with your attendance.
We do have some room for improvement, however, when you are here at school. It is important that we also focus on punctuality, reducing tardies, by being to all of our classes on time. Your punctuality does relate to how you are treating other people, because it affects your teacher and the rest of your classmates when you show up after class has started. The lesson is delayed or interrupted with late arrivals.
Indeed.com, the #1 job site in the world, has an article that discusses reasons why punctuality, meaning being on time, is important to employers. Here are a few reasons why punctuality is important to employers, according to Indeed:
1 - It displays professionalism. Employees who are punctual show they are reliable and trustworthy.
2 - It reduces stress. Not everything seems rushed and we’re less likely to miss important details of work.
3 - It helps you meet deadlines and accomplish more.
4 - It helps improve work relationships. Arriving to work on time can show that you respect others' time, which can improve their perception of you.
5 - It maintains the productivity of a class or workplace. People are distracted by employees or classmates who arrive late to work or class. Remember, we have a collective school goal this year to reduce disruptions.
6 - It helps showcase your leadership potential. Arriving to work on time can help you set a good example for your colleagues or classmates. By being punctual, you can show that you are responsible, committed and ambitious—all of which are traits of good leaders. Showcasing leadership characteristics can help you get raises and promotions and advance your career as a whole one day.
Yes, you are not a working adult with a full time job. Yet. Getting the best education possible is a full-time job. The habits you build now can make a difference in being the most successful you can be now, and later in life. Your punctuality, being to class on time, is in your best interest, and it treats your teachers and fellow students well, which helps make it a great day to be a Laser. Have a great weekend, everyone!
It’s a great day… to be a LASER!
