Attention ALL Kettle Moraine Middle School Students
Do you earn good grades?
Do you volunteer in your community?
If you answered yes to these two questions, please consider applying to be Kettle Moraine Middle School’s nominee for the Carson Scholarship! This opportunity is open to all students who have a GPA of at least 3.75 (that is, no more than one B in their Math, STEM, Literacy, and Social Studies classes) and have completed community service / volunteer hours.
If our school’s nominee is chosen by the Carson Scholars Fund to be an award winner, they will receive a $1,000 scholarship invested towards a four-year college or university. Learn more about the Carson Scholars Fund, including info about the application and selection process HERE.
Applications can be picked up in the front office. Please see Mr. Korb or Mrs. Cowan with any questions.
Each applicant will be required to write a short essay. The applications will be reviewed by a committee to determine our school’s nominee. Applications are due in the front office by the end of the day on Friday, December 8.
The True Grit award is available to ALL students in grades 6-8 and is sponsored by the Lake Country Optimist Club. To apply for this scholarship, you must write a 300 word minimum essay on the topic of grit. The student who demonstrates the most growth in perseverance, endurance, and resilience through optimism, creativity, and confidence to achieve a desired academic or nonacademic goal, will be awarded a $100 scholarship. Happy Friday everyone. We are approaching Winter Break and with 9 school days left until break we wanted to take this time to remind and encourage everyone to stay focused and productive.
We have a building goal that is focused on eliminating disruptions. Our goal reads: By May 2024, KMMS will develop a more productive learning environment by engaging students and reducing disruptive behaviors as measured by students' School Perceptions survey responses.
Each Learning environment has had a few visits from Mr. K and I since the start of school to reinforce this goal work ( and we are starting another round of these talks). Your teachers have talked about this goal and have gotten your input on how to help achieve this. Your mentor is talking to you and getting your input on the impact distractions have on your learning, or if you are the distraction and you are impacting others learning. This is important work. This goal involves everyone’s work and commitment.
Reflection is an important part of the goal setting process. How are you helping our school achieve the goal of reducing disruptive behaviors? How are you helping to create a focused and respectful learning environment?
With these 9 days before break, let’s all put forth a strong effort and commitment to staying focused in class, coming prepared for class, staying actively engaged and on task, respecting others personal space, respecting others work time and learning time, being mindful of how our actions affect the learning environment for others, listen and refrain from behaviors in class that stop the instruction and the learning process.
This is a collective effort. Everyone’s individual part adds up to a big impact. Stay focused these days leading up to Break. Thank you to everyone for your commitment and work towards our building goal and for helping our school become even better. We are a great school, one of the best in the State. Just think of where we can go working together!
Happy Friday. Have a great day and a safe weekend.
It’s a great day… to be a LASER!
