It is a great day to be a Laser, when we treat one another well. Congratulations to all of our students and staff on a successful Term 3 and for making it to spring break.
As we approach spring break, I know many of you are excited for some well-deserved time off from classes. But just because school is taking a break, doesn't mean you take a break from learning. In the words Mr. Kaldhusdal, newly inducted into the National Teacher Hall of Fame, you’re never done. Learning never stops. It’s just going to look different during spring break.
Read, read, read: Pick up a book that interests you, whether it's a novel, a biography, or a magazine. Reading is one of the best ways to expand your knowledge and vocabulary.
Make a podcast about your spring break. Keep a journal and write down notes from your experiences over your break. The title of your podcast could be the theme of your 2024 spring break. Your adult self will truly enjoy listening to your middle school podcast one day, you won’t regret it.
Explore nature and spend time outside. Talk your older siblings or parents into taking you to a new park or on a new hike.
Try something new and build a life skill: Maybe you ask your parents to cook a new meal together or you help them tackle a house project. Just no power tools without permission and adult supervision.
Volunteer: Giving back to your community is not only fulfilling but also a great way to learn about different issues and perspectives. Look for volunteer opportunities in your area and see how you can make a positive impact, like volunteering at your church or a local animal shelter.
Watch educational videos or documentaries: There are countless videos and documentaries available online that cover a wide range of topics, from science and history to art and culture. Take advantage of these resources to learn something new and expand your horizons.
Remember, learning never stops. By staying curious and embracing new experiences, you can continue to grow and develop, even during spring break. Learning new things has a positive impact on our self-esteem, and when we feel better about ourselves, we typically treat those around us well too. Have a wonderful and enriching break, everyone!
It’s a great day… to be a LASER!
