7th graders are invited to apply to be WEB leaders for next year’s WEB activities. We are looking for students who have a positive attitude about KMMS and enjoy building relationships and encouraging others. Applications are available from 7th grade teachers or in the office. WEB leaders must be available for training day, August 28th and WEB day, August 29th, 2024. Applications are due Thursday, May 30th. If you have questions about WEB, please contact Mrs. Olson or Mrs. Hoffman.

Keegan L is up for Journal Sentinel Athlete of the Week now through Saturday at 3 PM. Keegan scored 38 individual points to help KMHS Girls Track win Friday’s home invite by winning the 100m hurdles, high jump, 300m hurdles with a runner-up finish in the long jump.

Register now for Jr. Laser and Little Laser Cheerleading for the fall.  Grades K-8 are encouraged to be part of the KM Cheer program. Grades 6-8 practice twice per week July-October with Saturday morning performance at local football games. Sign up at https://kmsd.revtrak.net/rwcommunityeducation/

Registration deadline is today!  Parent meeting will be held Monday, May 13 at 6pm in the high school library.

May will be a busy month on the announcements!  If you’re interested in reading an announcement about Mental Health Awareness Month, Military Appreciation Month, or Asian American Heritage Month, contact Mr. Korb!  Guest announcers are always welcome and appreciated!  

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH - Emmie F

The student services team at KMMS is made up of school counselors Mrs. Cowan and Mr. Korb, school psychologist Mrs. Beyerl, and school social worker Mrs. Kittel.  The student services team has many jobs to do, but here are some ways they can help you:

• Discuss how to resolve a conflict with a peer

• Partner with you to have difficult conversations with teachers or parents

• Give you tips to deal with anxiety and promote better mental health

• Allow you to discuss your feelings in a safe and private place

• Give you a break during a challenging day

• Brainstorm how to improve your grades and attendance

• Discuss your future plans and options, including high school, college, and careers

Please attend the KM Music Parents Association meeting on Monday May 13th at 7:00pm at KMHS in the Perform Community Room (Room B21).  We'll be reviewing grant requests and previewing the schedule of upcoming music concerts.  We're also looking for parent support for the upcoming 2024-25 school year to help with social media/communications and financial/treasurer.  Join us to learn more!  All parents/guardians of music students are welcome to participate. Students - Whether you are walking home, getting picked up or riding your bike, ALWAYS cross at the marked crosswalk. This is where adults are stationed to help you cross Ottawa Ave safely.  Please remember to also use the sidewalk after you have crossed the street.

Drivers - Please be patient as we close out the school year and battle the congestion and increased traffic due to the Bridge work on Hwy 18.  We are all looking forward to this project being completed...hopefully before the end of the school year!

Please remind your student to use the crosswalk and sidewalks.   Please be alert and 
watch for pedestrians and stop for people in crosswalks.

Learning lab is on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:45 - 4:00 in the library. All students not going to the Learning lab must have rides arriving prior to 3pm. Only those students may wait in the vestibule just inside the front doors.

Time to celebrate the end of another successful school year! All KMMS families and current 5th Grade KM families are invited to the KMMS PTO second annual Summer Kick Off Bash where there will be concessions, kickball, yard games, a bounce house and a silent auction with music provided by DJ Otto. NEW THIS YEAR - Take a turn at dunking an 8th grader in our Dunk Tank!

In order to make this a successful community event, we need your help!  Please consider signing up for a volunteer slot (most are only 1/2 hour!) and then hang out at the Bash with your family and friends for the remainder of the event. Here is the link for the sign up genius.

The KMHS Varsity Dance Team Tryouts are coming up quickly! The Football Season Team tryouts will be May 11th from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. Below is the link to the tryout registration as well as get more information about how to prepare for tryouts!

The last Coding Club meeting is May 21.

KM Global will be hosting an artisan craft fair at Kettle Moraine High School on Saturday, May 18th! This capstone project is a cornerstone of Global's learning. Students get the opportunity to build a community event to benefit a local organization. 100% of the proceeds from this event (from vendor fees, donations, food truck partnerships, etc.) will be donated to our friends at the Hunger Task Force. The market will start at 9:00am and end at 12:00pm in the KM high school parking lot. Join us to shop all of these wonderful products! Interested in being part of the KM Jr. Laser Dance Team for next school year?  Students entering grades 6-8 will practice twice per week beginning in July and going through October.   We will perform Saturday mornings at the local youth football games.  Sign up today at https://kmsd.revtrak.net/rwcommunityeducation/  Anyone who may be interested is welcome to attend an open gym to try it on Monday, June 3 from 6-8 at KM Middle School.

Any current 8th grader interested in playing at the high school in the fall can visit the KM Boys Volleyball website for more information. We have open gyms all summer. Tryouts begin August 19th.

Mrs. Lloyd and Mr. Kitzerow are in the middle of their Quarter 4 house visits.  Some of you have already gotten a pep talk from our principals, and some of you are still waiting for them to come to your house.  Our message for everyone is to finish the year strong!  8th graders: end your middle school experience on a high note!  7th graders: get ready to be the new leaders of our building!  6th graders: you’ve come a long way in just 8-and-a-half months…pretty soon you’ll be done with your first year of middle school!  Remember that it is always a great day to be a Laser when we treat each other well!
