The United States Army is the oldest and largest branch of the US Armed Forces. Considered the American military’s land service branch, the mission of the Army is to provide land dominance in any conflict. The US Army contains more than 480,000 active duty members who are stationed all over the world! Members of the US Army are expected to abide by the following seven values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. George Washington believed that having a strong military helped to prevent war, and he said, “To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.” Thank you, current and former US Army members!
The show will be held in the KMHS Auditorium on Friday, May 17th at 6pm. Cost $12 per ticket. Ella M of KM Global is using her senior capstone to combine her passion for dance with a desire to help others. She has produced a contemporary dance show called "The Beauty of Mistakes." This production combines many of Ella's beliefs and passions into the pieces you will see, and she is excited to be able to fundraise for LifeStriders in Waukesha. LifeStriders is an incredibly unique place that uses horse therapy to help all sorts of people with different needs. Tickets can be purchased HERE in advance.

Several students from Mrs. Gehrke's Literacy class are collecting donations to local nonprofits as part of their passion projects. Please look in the front entry hallway to find boxes where you can drop off items for HAWS, the Hope Center, or a local women's shelter! Items needed include hygienic items, water bottles, garbage bags, pet food, paper towels, and many more. Check the boxes and posters in the front entryway for a full list! Thank you for considering supporting these great causes.
Students - Whether you are walking home, getting picked up or riding your bike, ALWAYS cross at the marked crosswalk. This is where adults are stationed to help you cross Ottawa Ave safely. Please remember to also use the sidewalk after you have crossed the street.
Drivers - Please be patient as we close out the school year and battle the congestion and increased traffic due to the Bridge work on Hwy 18. We are all looking forward to this project being completed… hopefully before the end of the school year!
Please remind your student to use the crosswalk and sidewalks. Please be alert and watch for pedestrians and stop for people in crosswalks. Thanks for working together to make our community safer.

It is a great day to be a Laser, when we treat one another well. Good morning KMMS students. I want to take a brief moment to talk about some folks that are important for all of us to treat well - our guest teachers!
First, let’s take a moment to express our sincere appreciation for our substitute and guest teachers. They play a vital role in maintaining the continuity of our learning environment when our teachers are unavailable. Their dedication and commitment to supporting our school deserves our utmost gratitude. It’s a tough job to be a sub. Let’s show our appreciation by welcoming them warmly, following their instructions attentively, and treating them with the same respect we afford our daily teachers.
Did you know that substitute teacher shortages are a growing concern across the nation? These shortages can disrupt the learning process, leading to missed instructional time and academic setbacks for students. It's crucial for students to understand the impact of these shortages on their education.
Respect for substitute teachers is crucial in maintaining a positive learning environment. Substitutes step into unfamiliar classrooms and work hard to ensure that learning continues in the absence of the regular teacher. They deserve the same level of respect and cooperation as our daily educators. By being respectful and cooperative with substitutes, students not only contribute to a positive classroom atmosphere, it also helps ensure that their own education remains uninterrupted and productive, and helps KMMS continue to be one of the best middle schools in the state. Please thank a guest teacher for being here if you see them today, or thank them one of these last few weeks of school. Have a great weekend, everyone!
It’s a great day… to be a LASER!
