Daniel Ken Inouye (ee-NOH-ay) was a Japanese American who served his country for more than 60 years. Inouye was born in Hawaii in 1924 and served as a medical volunteer during the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Inouye fought for the United States during World War 2, losing his right arm to a grenade wound, eventually attaining the rank of Captain, and receiving the Medal of Honor for his service. Inouye served as a United States Senator from Hawaii for nearly 50 years, from 1963 until his death in 2012. At the time of his death, Inouye was the highest-ranking Asian American politician in our country’s history.
Hi, I am Aurora, and I am Nora. We want to tell you more about our fundraiser for Mrs. Gehrke´s class. We have started a fundraiser for the Hope Center, which is a homeless shelter and a shelter for people in dangerous situations. They need some donations to help them feel like they are still loved and special no matter the situation. We are extending the due date for this fundraiser until Wednesday, June 5th. Some of the needs right now are sensitive body shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. They also need deodorant and other hygiene products. We would also love to take some new or barely used clothing, in any size. Please consider donating! On a single night in 2023, roughly 653,100 people end up homeless. You could be the ones to help them! The donation box is in the front entryway.
Thank you so much for considering, and have an awesome day.

WEB leaders must be available for training day, August 28th and WEB day, August 29th, 2024. Applications are due Thursday at noon. If you have questions about WEB, please contact Mrs. Olson or Mrs. Hoffman.

Time to celebrate the end of another successful school year! All KMMS families and current 5th Grade KM families are invited to the KMMS PTO second annual Summer Kick Off Bash where there will be concessions, kickball, yard games, a bounce house and a silent auction with music provided by DJ Otto. NEW THIS YEAR - Take a turn at dunking an 8th grader in our Dunk Tank!
In order to make this a successful community event, we need your help! Please consider signing up for a volunteer slot (most are only 1/2 hour!) and then hang out at the Bash with your family and friends for the remainder of the event. Here is the link for the sign up genius.
8th graders who would like to take a turn in the Dunk Tank at the Summer Kick Off Bash, should have a parent/guardian email Mrs. Burzynskito sign up. Also Student Senators who are interested in serving at the Concession Stand should do the same.
Join us Wednesday, May 29th for our student presentations of their capstone projects. Ask questions and help to prepare these young leaders and entrepreneurs for future success.
