May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. Earlier this month, we learned that cystic fibrosis is a rare condition that affects people’s lungs, but it doesn’t have to stop them from leading normal lives! Although we don’t have a cure for CF yet, there are scientists and researchers constantly working to find a cure. In the meantime, things keep getting better for people with CF as more effective treatments are discovered. In addition to taking pills, there are breathing treatments that shake up the mucus in the lungs so someone with CF can breathe more easily. Sometimes, people with CF cough more than other people, but this doesn’t mean they’re not OK. Remember, it is OK to politely ask questions if you want to learn more about cystic fibrosis! Thank you for taking some time to learn about CF this month.
Students, while you are cleaning out your lockers and backpacks, please keep your eyes peeled for ice packs, and if you find one, please return it to the health room. Our health room began the school year with 140 ice packs, and now there are only 5 ice packs left. Today’s math challenge: what percentage of our health room’s ice packs have gone missing this school year? If you see Mr. Korb in the hallway or cafeteria today, let him know the percentage!
If your student has medication in the health room, it needs to be picked up by the end of school on Thursday June 5th.
Medications for 8th grade students will be available for pick up during the 8th grade completion ceremony. Please stop at the health room table to pick up these medications.
Any medications not picked up by June 5th will be disposed of properly. If you have questions please contact the health room at 262-965-6500 x2054.
Our last day of the school year is June 4th, so stop by now for your summer spirit wear! We will reopen in August.
Our 8th grade dance is coming up quickly. Please take a look at this sign up genius, if you are willing to help us decorate and provide refreshments to our 8th grade students during their end of middle school celebration. All items should be delivered to the KMMS office before 12pm on Wednesday, June 4th.
The school board special session previously scheduled for June 3rd is being moved to June 11th. The agenda will be posted June 6th through our website under > School Board + Meetings/Agendas, or via Board Docs at https://go.boarddocs.com/wi/kmsd/Board.nsf/Public.
Any 8th grade girls interested in playing high school golf in the fall, please contact Coach Graf at grafs@kmsd.edu or Coach Bruenig bruenings@kmsd.edu for the summer work out schedule.
The season begins August 11.
Love reading? Join us in the library on Fridays after lunch instead of heading to recess! Just grab a purple pass from the office, bring your favorite book, and enjoy some quiet reading time in the library.
Learning lab is on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:45 - 4:00 in the library. All students not going to the Learning lab must have rides arriving prior to 3pm. Only those students may wait in the vestibule just inside the front doors.

It’s Plinko time!! Let’s celebrate good attendance, after all, the connection between attendance and student success is HUGE! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically.
So, just like last month, we randomly drew 20 student names from those who have either maintained 95% attendance or shown improved attendance from the previous month.
If your name is called, please come down to the cafeteria to play Plinko and win an awesome prize. Good luck, and keep showing up!
