Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

One of the things that makes KMMS one of the best middle schools in Wisconsin is our highly engaged and supportive parents. Our parents’ active engagement and support play a vital role in helping students value their education and excel in their coursework.

We understand that supporting your middle schooler can be challenging – today's middle school experience differs significantly from what many of us remember! To help bridge this gap, we've created our Must-Do/Can-Do lists. These daily guides outline specific assignments students can focus on outside of school hours, helping them stay organized and catch up on any unfinished classwork. The lists also serve as an invaluable resource for students returning from absences, ensuring they can easily track and complete missed work.

HOW DO I HELP MY STUDENT?

DAILY HOMEWORK - Check out the Must Do / Can Do list for each house to stay up-to-date on daily assignments and due dates. You should see daily assignments (Must Do) and upcoming or enrichment activities (Can Do):

6 Inspire    7 Inspire  8 Inspire  Create

Canvas:

  • Individual practice scores

  • Homework completion

  • NOT A FINAL GRADE CALCULATION

Infinite Campus:

  • Choose Term 4 (T4) for house classes

  • Benchmark Scores

  • Progress Scores (quizzes)

  • Practice Scores (one per unit)

  • “Term Progress Grade” = snapshot in time

  • “Term Grade” = Final grade for a course

Thank you for your ongoing support,

KMMS February Band Concert for Charity

Charity Band Concert

Band Parents and Students!

Our next performance is approaching in a few weeks, so we have a few reminders for our next concert!

February 4th: Students in 3rd and 6th hour Bands along with 6th grade Flutes, Saxophones, Percussion, and Baritones.

February 5th: Students in 4th and 7th hour Bands along with 6th grade Clarinets, Trumpets, and Trombones.

Both concerts will start at 7pm in the large gym at Kettle Moraine Middle School, and students need to arrive at 6:30pm (7th and 8th grade percussion students should arrive at 6:20pm).

Concert Attire: For this performance, all students need to wear our traditional concert black as shown here. Our goal with this is for everyone to wear solid black, and to look as nice as they can. We went over examples with students in class, but please reach out with any questions or clarifications.

Fundraising for a Cause: Our 7th Grade students have chosen HAWS as our charity/non-profit of choice to raise awareness and funds in line with our mission of a “charity concert”. The students have been researching organizations in our area to support and have voted on HAWS as the top charity of choice this year. In line with the mission of using music to support a cause, we are asking families to consider donating to HAWS at the concert. Both cash and online donations will be accepted, and we will have more information about HAWS during the concert. If you are able to, we would love it if you can support the mission!

Please reach out with any questions or concerns, and we look forward to seeing you at the concert!

Traffic Pattern Reminder

This is a reminder of our traffic pattern that includes the designated locations for dropping off and picking up students during the arrival and dismissal times.  We are asking for your cooperation in following this to avoid students mingling in with the bus traffic patterns.

Thank you for your help and adherence to this.

Please Stop!

Stop

There is a stop sign outside the front entrance of our middle school. The sign is intended to secure safe crossing for student, parent and staff pedestrians. Please be sure to stop at the crossing before proceeding through the parking lot. Thank you!

Cold Weather: Recess & Fire Drills

We have come to the frigid time of the year. At KMMS we like to provide students with an opportunity to get outside for recess after eating lunch. More students have been opting to use one of the gyms or to play table games during recess lately due to the cold. However there are many students who enjoy being outdoors. If your student enjoys getting outside, please be sure to remind them that winter coats, hats and gloves/mittens are required to insure their safety and comfort in the cold weather. Students should also have winter gear available for fire drills.
