Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

We hope everyone has stayed warm this week. As a heads up, Tuesday, January 21, was our first of two built-in “snow days.” If school were to be called off for a third time, our students would attend virtual classes from home. In the event of a third inclement weather day, we would send out a document to students and parents with every teacher’s Google Meet link and students would sign on at their normal class times.

January 21st = snow day
Next inclement weather day = snow day
Third inclement weather day and beyond = virtual classes

Please let us know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful weekend!

Carson Scholars Award Nominee

Elsa

KMMS is proud to name 8th grader, Elsa Kreitzer, as our nominee for the 2025 Carson Scholars Award.  The purpose of the Carson Scholars Program is to recognize and reward outstanding students in the United States who exemplify academic excellence and humanitarian qualities.  Elsa is being honored in part for her exceptional academic achievement.  Elsa also displays tremendous citizenship, providing an excellent example for all students at Kettle Moraine Middle School.  Elsa is currently the Vice President of the Laser Ladies of Stem and is an active member of our WEB Leader program at school.  Congratulations, Elsa!

True Grit Award

Alice

For the third year, KMMS partnered with the Lake Country Optimist Club to offer the True Grit Award for our students.  This award is given to a student displaying exemplary resilience, perseverance, and optimism while also modeling the respectful and responsible behavior associated with being a true Laser!  We are pleased to announce that 7th grader, Alice Hudson, has been selected as our school's winner of the True Grit Award for the 2024-25 school year.  Alice is well-deserving of this award due to her remarkable personal growth this school year.  Keep up the great work, Alice!

KMMS February Band Concert for Charity

Charity Band Concert

Band Parents and Students!

Our next performance is approaching in a few weeks, so we have a few reminders for our next concert!

February 4th: Students in 3rd and 6th hour Bands along with 6th grade Flutes, Saxophones, Percussion, and Baritones.

February 5th: Students in 4th and 7th hour Bands along with 6th grade Clarinets, Trumpets, and Trombones.

Both concerts will start at 7pm in the large gym at Kettle Moraine Middle School, and students need to arrive at 6:30pm (7th and 8th grade percussion students should arrive at 6:20pm).

Concert Attire: For this performance, all students need to wear our traditional concert black as shown here. Our goal with this is for everyone to wear solid black, and to look as nice as they can. We went over examples with students in class, but please reach out with any questions or clarifications.

Fundraising for a Cause: Our 7th Grade students have chosen HAWS as our charity/non-profit of choice to raise awareness and funds in line with our mission of a “charity concert”. The students have been researching organizations in our area to support and have voted on HAWS as the top charity of choice this year. In line with the mission of using music to support a cause, we are asking families to consider donating to HAWS at the concert. Both cash and online donations will be accepted, and we will have more information about HAWS during the concert. If you are able to, we would love it if you can support the mission!

Please reach out with any questions or concerns, and we look forward to seeing you at the concert!

Traffic Pattern Reminder

Thank you to everyone for your cooperation with following our traffic pattern!

This is a reminder of our traffic pattern that includes the designated locations for dropping off and picking up students during the arrival and dismissal times.  We are asking for your cooperation in following this to avoid students mingling in with the bus traffic patterns.

Thank you for your help and adherence to this.

Youth Volleyball League

We are excited to offer a new twist to the Spring Friday Night Volleyball League.  We are offering Open (A) & Rec (B) levels of play.  This is similar to the levels for Adult Volleyball / Rec Volleyball.  The Open (A) Level group is meant to be a competitive play opportunity for boys and girls in 4th through 8th grade.  These teams will play more like an Open Gym meaning it is a time to play competitive volleyball with friends.  All eight weeks will be competitive play.  The Rec (B) Level group is meant to be more developmental and will have coaches working with the athletes to learn volleyball and grow in appreciation of the sport.  The first two weeks will be practice where skills are learned / developed.  The last six weeks will be for competitive play.  All eight weeks will consist of adult and high school players who help coach / teach volleyball.  This is open to all boys and girls currently enrolled in 4th - 8th grades.  Teams will be made up based on the number of players signed up for each level and each grade.  We understand some dates may conflict with current volleyball tournaments and if there are, please mark those in the notes section, but we hope you still sign up.  Each participant will receive a t-shirt if signed up by the cut-off date in the registration.  The winning teams of each division will receive championship medals.
