Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

We are ready to hit the ground running in 2025! We have two weeks left of our first semester of school with a rich academic agenda ahead of us for the final 5 months of the school year. From registering for classes for next year, parent-teacher conferences, state testing, field trips, the 2nd annual Showcase of Learning, and more - it’s going to be an eventful rest of the year.

We would be remiss to not take another moment to emphasize the importance of strong school attendance for your child(ren) to maximize the learning and growth that will happen this year. Students learn best when they are in school. Students build stronger connections with teachers and peers when they are in school. Students develop stronger employability habits related to attendance and punctuality when they are in school.

KMMS is proud to be one of the best middle schools in Wisconsin, ranked 23rd out of 545 by U.S. News & World Report. To maintain this level of excellence, we need our students in school, ready to learn and grow. If you’re facing challenges with your child’s attendance, please don’t hesitate to contact their school counselor—we’re here to help!

Thank you for all you do to support your child(ren) and their attendance these next 5 months!

Please Stop!

Stop Sign

There is a stop sign outside the front entrance of our middle school. The sign is intended to secure safe crossing for student, parent and staff pedestrians. Please be sure to stop at the crossing before proceeding through the parking lot. Thank you!

Cold Weather: Recess & Fire Drills

We have come to the frigid time of the year. At KMMS we like to provide students with an opportunity to get outside for recess after eating lunch. More students have been opting to use one of the gyms or to play table games during recess lately due to the cold. However there are many students who enjoy being outdoors. If your student enjoys getting outside, please be sure to remind them that winter coats, hats and gloves/mittens are required to insure their safety and comfort in the cold weather. Students should also have winter gear available for fire drills.

KMMS Lunch Purchases

Our lunch room staff and supervisors have noticed an uptick in students purchasing extra items (drinks, snacks and ice cream) from the cafeteria and handing items over to other students in the lunchroom. Please check your student's lunch account and have a discussion with them, if you notice these types of purchases happening frequently.
