Principal's Post

Hello KMMS Families,

We recently surveyed our students and are gathering results about anti-bullying practices at KMMS. We look forward to sharing results with you in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you may want to ask your student some of the questions they were surveyed about.

Students were asked to respond with agree or disagree to:

  1. Students treat me with respect.

  2. If I were bullied, I would feel comfortable talking to someone about it.

  3. If I have a big problem, there is an adult at school I can talk to about it.

In addition, students were asked:

  1. Who they would feel comfortable talking to

  2. To list every adult at school they could go to if they had a big problem at school

  3. Identify each reporting mechanism they would feel comfortable utilizing if necessary

Reporting options included:

  1. The school counselor Google Form

  2. Speak Up, Speak Out (SUSO)

  3. Emailing a staff member

  4. Requesting a counselor meeting

  5. Talking directly to a trusted adult at school

  6. Other - suggested by student survey taker

This pulse survey helps us evaluate our current practices, strengthen connections between students and trusted adults, and ensure every student knows how to and feels safe to ask for help. We look forward to sharing the results soon.

Thank you for your continued partnership in creating the best learning environment possible for all KMMS students.

Have a great weekend,

Band Costume Concerts: October 27th & 28th

We are quickly approaching the first performances of the year! Since our “Costume Concert” is a little different from other performances, we want to share with you how everything will work and the important information your family needs. This will be an exciting concert, and we are thrilled of the progress the students have made so far this year!

Due to the large number of students in our Band program and our limited gym capacity, there are two nights of performances. Please note which night your child is performing:

October 27th: Students in 3rd Hour Band, all 8th graders, and 6th grade (flute, baritone, trombone, and percussion)

October 28th: Students in 4th Hour Band and 6th grade (trumpet, clarinet, and alto saxophone)

Both concerts will start at 7pm in the large gym at Kettle Moraine Middle School, and students need to arrive at 6:30pm (7th and 8th grade percussion students should arrive at 6:20pm).

Concert Attire: Students can wear our traditional concert black as shown here OR are welcome to dress in a costume of their choice. Keep in mind that this is a fun family event!

Costumes must be school appropriate including NO complete face coverings or masks, body paint, suggestive outfits, fake blood, gross/gruesome, or weapons of any kind (even play weapons are prohibited). Students wearing costumes MUST be able to sit and play their instruments (sorry, no inflatable costumes). We are also asking that students leave all accessories/props at home unless the item is meant to be attached to the outfit at all times (no witch brooms or shields please!).

If a student arrives in an inappropriate costume, they will be asked to change immediately or might not be able to perform. Please make sure your child’s costume choice is appropriate in advance to prevent any issues coming up, and feel free to contact weissn@kmsd.edu with any questions.
