It is hard to believe there are only two weeks left for our first term of the school year. We want to direct our parents to a message they received this afternoon about Parent Teacher Conferences that are quickly approaching. The message includes instructions to sign up for conferences. 

Conference Dates:

Monday, 11/4 from 7:00-10:30AM
Thursday, 11/7 from 3:30-6:30PM

“How was school today?”
“Fine.”
“What did you do?”
“Nothing.”

If this sounds familiar, we invite you to conferences to learn that there is far more than “nothing” happening each day here at KMMS. It’s also an opportunity to verify if things are in fact “fine!”

The KMMS PTO will hold our annual Scholastic book fair beginning Monday, October 28th.
This year the book fair will be open before and after the Band concerts on Monday and Tuesday evenings. It will also be open on Monday, November 4th during the Parent/Teacher Conferences. Band Costume Concert Information (October 28th and 29th)

Band Families!

We are quickly approaching the first performances of the year. Since our “Costume Concert” is a little different from other performances, we want to share with you how everything will work and the important information your family needs. This will be an exciting concert, and we are thrilled of the progress the students have made so far this year!

Due to the large number of students in our Band program and our limited gym capacity, there are two nights of performances. Please note which night your child is performing:

October 28th: Students in 3rd and 6th hour Bands along with 6th grade Flutes, Saxophones, Percussion, and Baritones.

October 29th: Students in 4th and 7th hour Bands along with 6th grade Clarinets, Trumpets, and Trombones.

Both concerts will start at 7pm in the large gym at Kettle Moraine Middle School, and students need to arrive at 6:30pm (7th and 8th grade percussion students should arrive at 6:20pm).

Concert Attire: Students can wear our traditional concert black as shown here OR are welcome to dress in a costume of their choice. Keep in mind that this is a fun family event!

Costumes must be school appropriate including NO complete face coverings or masks, body paint, suggestive outfits, fake blood, gross/gruesome, or weapons of any kind (even play weapons are prohibited). Students wearing costumes MUST be able to sit and play their instruments (sorry, no inflatable costumes). We are also asking that students leave all accessories/props at home unless the item is meant to be attached to the outfit at all times (no witch brooms or shields please!). 

If a student arrives in an inappropriate costume, they will be asked to change immediately or might not be able to perform. Please make sure your child’s costume choice is appropriate in advance to prevent any issues coming up, and feel free reach out to a Band teacher for any questions!

Do you want to have a better idea of the middle school vibe? Are you interested in having the inside scoop on KMMS? Do you want to spend some time each month with other middle school parents? 

The purpose of this group is to provide input and feedback on a variety of issues around learning and life at KMMS.  We are entering "Year 4" and have many returning team members that mostly represent 7th and 8th grade. Our goal is to add a few more representatives from our current 6th grade families. The group will have people representing multiple grade levels, environments, and perspectives

• We will continue to meet Wednesday evenings in 2025 and will have those dates determined in the near future.

KMMS finally has its own spirit wear line. The teachers have gray, short sleeved T-shirts with the same design. Wouldn't it be great to fill the school with KMMS spirit wear that could be worn on KMMS Spirit days? The Student Senate and PTO will be holding the first dance of the year on Friday, November 11th from 6-8pm. Admission is $6. If you bring a full sized non-perishable food item, the admission will be only $5. Each entry fee includes a glow bracelet. Other glow items and concessions will be available for purchase. If you would like to “glow” during the dance, wear light colored items.

KMMS retake days are scheduled for Monday, November 4th (7-10:30am) and Thursday, November 7th (3:30-6:30pm). These are not school days. The retakes correspond with Parent/Teacher conferences this year.

There are a number of ways to notify KMMS of a student absence, late arrival or early release.

  Choose student name, reason for absence, date and time (if applicable). If you’d like to leave us more information, there is a comment section

  When your IC Portal request for early release is approved, an email goes to your student's school email account. That email can be used for a pass to the office. We also attempt to send paper passes to remind students of their early releases.

• Email an administrative assistant with the information.

Additionally, KMMS students may sign themselves into the building without a parent. If you drop your student at the front entrance after 7:20am, please watch to be sure that they enter the building and are helped. KMMS students may sign themselves out of the building without a parent present, as long as we are aware that the student has permission to leave before they arrive at the office for departure.

The KMMS PTO is looking for concessions donations, volunteers and parent chaperones to help make the dance a "glowing" success.

Please collect your Albrecht's Sentry receipts to support Kettle Moraine Middle School PTO!

Please send in your Albrecht's Sentry receipts throughout the rest of the year. Albrecht's Sentry will give back 1% of receipt totals collected. Receipts can be dropped off in the front office in the designated collection container. This is a quick and easy way to support KMMS PTO.

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2024-2025 SEASON IS NOW OPEN!!!

Season Information:  All practice sessions are held on Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 in the high school wrestling rooms.  Practice groups are based on experience / skill level and age group as needed.  The Beginner and Intermediate groups practice two days a week for 60 minutes and the Advanced group practices up to four days a week for 90 minutes.  For the Beginner group, the season starts the second week in December and concludes the first week in March during our annual Family Night event.  The Intermediate and Advanced groups begin practice in the middle of November, finishing up with Team State and Individual State in March.

Registration is open for the 24-25 Youth Recreational basketball season.  All students in grades 1-8 are welcome.   Season begins in December and concludes in February.  Grades 3-8 will practice one night per week with Saturday morning games and will be followed by a season ending tournament.
