Principal's Post

Hello KMMS Families,

Today’s post is going to hit on two important items:

Parent Teacher Conferences

Conferences are already next week and we’d love to meet with as many of our parents as possible! Please be sure to make note of the information emailed from your student’s teachers to sign up. Conferences are on the evening of 11/2 and the morning of 11/3.

KMMS Cell Phone Policy

Ms. Lloyd’s message this morning to our students focused on getting back on track with our cell phone policy. We respect our parents’ decisions to give their children cell phones and understand that a cell phone is the standard for safety and emergency communication with parents. We do ask that our parents help our students abide by school policy. There are numerous and far-reaching positives of having a policy for students to be off phones in school. Here is a link with more info - https://www.waituntil8th.org/why-wait.

As a reminder, it is our policy that phones should be either turned off and in students’ lockers or they should be checked into the phone caddies that are in each classroom. Students should check their phones before going to lunch if necessary, and then leave their cell phones in their lockers during lunch. It is not only school policy, but state law, that cell phones are not used in the bathroom or locker rooms because of recording capability.

Let’s not kid ourselves. Cell phones are a big deal, and it takes all of us being on the same page to implement a policy that benefits the well-being of our students while in school. We really appreciate your support.

Have a great weekend!

HAL - 11/1 Last Day to Donate: Hope to Walk Virtual 5K

Did you know...

  • There are 35 million amputees and disabled people worldwide who need prosthetic devices but do not have access to them?

  • Traditional prosthetic legs cost between $10,000-$25,000 -- an unattainable price for someone making $3 per day

Ms. Pasternak and Mrs. Weske's Healthy & Active Lifestyles class are participating in a Virtual 5K to raise awareness for Hope to Walk. Hope to Walk is a non-profit organization that exists simply to help the impoverished people of the world to walk again. Millions of amputees worldwide depend on wheelchairs and crutches. Some are even forced to crawl simply because they cannot afford prosthetics. There is still time to donate or participate in the virtual 5K. Go to https://hopetowalk.networkforgood.com/projects/203726-kelly-weske-s-fundraiser for more details and to make a donation.

Last year, students raised enough money to purchase a leg for Santos, a 61-year old man from Honduras. Our goal this year is to raise enough money to purchase TWO (or more) prosthetic legs.

Blessings in a Backpack

Kettle Moraine Middle School is a proud partner of a non-profit organization called Blessings in a Backpack. Through this partnership, your child is eligible to be a recipient of the Blessings in a Backpack program. This program is currently in all of the Kettle Moraine Elementary schools.

The program is designed to provide non-perishable food every Friday to children that
would benefit from supplemental nourishment over the weekend. The program runs the
full school year and there is no cost to participate. If you choose to participate, your child
will receive a bag of non-perishable food every Friday which will be distributed in a discreet and caring manner. This will begin Friday October 6th.

If you want your child(ren) to participate, please complete this form.
