Principal's Post

Hello KMMS Families,

All of the clichés that time is flying and the school year is going fast feel so true right now. We are already into the second month of the school year and before we know it we will reach the end of Term 1 and we’ll see you all for Parent Teacher Conferences (November 3rd and 6th).

The month of October brings a new theme to KMMS, “It’s a great day to be a Laser when we treat each other well.” This aligns well with national “Anti-Bullying” month. As a school, we will focus on respectful treatment of one another, what types of “jokes” are off limits, our KMORRs (district policies), the effect of bullying on mental health, and the many avenues we have for reporting bullying. We care deeply about our students and how they treat one another here. We’ve made a lot of progress in the last three years. But this is ongoing work, and we know we’ll never be ‘done.’ It takes diligent and deliberate messaging and meaningful conversations with our students.

Data

As we continue to make progress, we ask our parents/guardians to have ongoing conversations with their child(ren). Here is what we tell our students: If you see someone being treated poorly:

  1. Don’t laugh

  2. Don’t join in

  3. Offer help

  4. Enlist the help of a trusted adult

Let’s all do our part to make KMMS a place where everyone feels respected. It really is a great day to be a Laser when we treat each other well.

Have a great weekend,

Matt Kitzerow
Principal

STEM Forward Club

STEM
STEM
STEM

Mrs. Olson's newly created STEM Forward club has started, and there's quite a buzz amongst the students. Groups have been formed, students have reviewed judging rubrics and project requirements, our first prototype base has been built and planning is underway! Some incredible STEM skills are being demonstrated by students who are 3D modeling their plans and learning all about the 6 types of machines. STEM Forward is the place to be for students wanting to apply the STEM skills they learn every day in our high quality classes of design/build and programming. Special thanks to Mr. Gutbrod's contribution to the club building bases.

KMMS AM Drop Off Reminder

Please be sure that your student(s) exit(s) the vehicle on the passenger side when being dropped at the designated drop off spot each morning. Please do NOT allow your student to exit on the driver's side. The lane on the driver's side is close to the moving traffic in the pass through lane, and we want to keep students away from moving vehicles.

IMPORTANT: New traffic patterns. https://ms.kmsd.edu/o/kmms/page/traffic-patterns.
