Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

We want to thank our parents for their supportive role in getting students to school. School attendance is so important to the academic growth and maturation of our students. Strong attendance helps our students:

  • Grasp key concepts and skills they'll need for high school and beyond.

  • Learn responsibility for the expectations of future education and work.

  • Reduce stress: When students attend regularly, they're less likely to fall behind and feel overwhelmed trying to catch up.

  • Foster a sense of belonging: Regular attendance helps students feel connected to their school community.

  • Provide structure and routine: A consistent school schedule can be comforting and stabilizing for adolescents.

  • Ensure access to support: Kids in school regularly are more likely to receive help from teachers or counselors if needed.

We celebrated our students who had strong attendance during the month of September with a drawing to play “Plinko.” Twenty student names were drawn and those students won KM hats, shirts, water bottles, stickers, and gift cards. We’ll draw another 20 names for the month of October. A big thank you to our PTO for sponsoring these incentive items!

Thank you for your partnership,

Matt Kitzerow

Plinko & Attendance

We are excited to announce a new incentive this school year to celebrate good attendance! After all, the connection between attendance and student success is HUGE!
Students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically.

Today, we congratulated our September winners! Twenty student names were called this morning on the announcements for a chance to play PLINKO for a chance to win one of several awesome prizes.

Every month, we will randomly draw twenty student names from those who have either maintained 95% attendance (1 or less days per month) or shown improved attendance from the previous month. Even if your attendance wasn’t the best in September, you still have a chance! Just show improvement in October, and you could be one of our next winners.

KMMS Spirit Wear Sale
Spiritwear Sale

KMMS finally has its own spirit wear line. The teachers have gray, short sleeved T-shirts with the same design. Wouldn't it be great to fill the school with KMMS spirit wear that could be worn on KMMS Spirit days? If you are interested in seeing/feeling the fabric quality, please stop in the office and ask to see a staff t-shirt or sweatshirt. https://stores.inksoft.com/ket011

Healthy & Active Lifestyles - Virtual 5K

Students in Mrs. Weske's and Ms. Pasternak's Healthy & Active Lifestyles classes will be participating in a Virtual 5K this month to raise awareness for Hope to Walk. Hope to Walk is a non-profit organization that exists simply to help the impoverished people of the world to walk again. Millions of amputees worldwide depend on wheelchairs and crutches. Some are even forced to crawl simply because they cannot afford prosthetics.

Please consider donating or participating in the virtual 5K.

70% of Hope To Walk’s patients are able to return to work again. They are also able to care for themselves and their families and be part of their communities again. It is a good thing to give someone a meal but far better to give them the ability to obtain their own meals. This empowering of others and letting them know of their innate value is at the core of Hope To Walk.

Last year, we raised over $500 and were able to provide 2 prosthetic legs! The recipients were Francisco (age 62) and Mercedes del Carmen (age 64) both from Honduras.  Please consider donating!

New Families: Reporting an Absence for a KMMS Student

IC graphic

There are a number of ways to notify KMMS of a student absence, late arrival or early release.

  • Use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal

Instructions for the IC Parent Portal
    Enter the Parent Portal
    Go to “More”
    Go to “Absence Request”
Choose student name, reason for absence, date and time (if applicable). If you’d like to leave us more information, there is a comment section
    Click Submit

When your IC Portal request for early release is approved, an email goes to your student's school email account. That email can be used for a pass to the office. We also attempt to send paper passes to remind students of their early releases.

  • Call the KMMS Attendance line: 262-965-6500 ext.2050

  • Email an administrative assistant with the information.

Additionally, KMMS students may sign themselves into the building without a parent. If you drop your student at the front entrance after 7:20am, please watch to be sure that they enter the building and are helped. KMMS students may sign themselves out of the building without a parent present, as long as we are aware that the student has permission to leave before they arrive at the office for departure.
