Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

Happy first day of November and last day of the first term of the school year! As a reminder, we have parent-teacher conferences next week:

Conference Dates:

Monday, 11/4 from 7:00-10:30 AM

Thursday, 11/7 from 3:30-6:30 PM

Parent-teacher conferences are an important opportunity for open communication about your child's academic journey. During these meetings, teachers will share detailed insights into your student's classroom performance, academic strengths, and areas where additional support might be helpful. Equally important, we want to hear your perspective—your observations about how your child is experiencing school, any challenges they might be facing at home, and any background context that could help us better understand and support your student. These conferences are a collaborative partnership, designed to ensure we're working together to help your child learn, grow, and succeed.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Matt Kitzerow

Safety Drill

We regularly conduct Safety Drills (Fire Drills, Evacuation Drill, Shelter Drills, and Lockdown Drills) throughout the year.   These drills allow us to practice our response to critical incidents should we need to.   On Tuesday morning, students and staff will practice a Lockdown Drill that will include some areas practicing a barricade and some areas will practice evacuating the building.  No one will be leaving campus.

"Costume" Band Concerts

This week on Monday and Tuesday the KMMS Band program performed their "Costume Concert". Check out some of the pictures of our performers in their costumes!

National Stress Awareness Day: November 6th

NSAD Graphic

National Stress Awareness Day, observed on the first Wednesday in November, encourages us to identify and address the stressors in our lives. While some stress can motivate and protect us, excessive stress can negatively impact our health and relationships.

Recognizing the sources of stress—whether they stem from health issues, work/school environments, financial concerns, or family dynamics—is essential. By pinpointing these stressors, we can take steps to manage and reduce them.

Here are some effective tools for managing stress:

  • Develop Coping Skills: Practice techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness, or meditation to help manage anxiety.

  • Let Go of the Unchangeable: Focus on what you can control and try to release the rest.

  • Exercise Regularly: Physical activity helps release built-up tension and improve overall well-being.

  • Maintain a Balanced Diet: Eating nutritious foods can provide the energy and resilience needed to cope with stress.

Taking proactive steps on National Stress Awareness Day can lead to healthier, more balanced lives. Remember, it's okay to seek help if you're feeling overwhelmed.

Smart but Scattered by Peg Dawson and Richard Guare

A fantastic resource! It offers practical strategies for helping children strengthen their executive skills, which are crucial for success in school and life. The insights for parents are especially valuable, as they can apply these techniques to support their children's development. Highly recommended for parents who have children ages 4-13.
