Hello KMMS families,
We want to begin by thanking all of our KMMS family members who have admirably served our country. Thank you to KMMS staff members, John Blanchard and Frank Geboy. Veteran’s Day is on my mind and close to my heart, as I have many family members who served in our armed forces. The closest to me being my oldest sister, Allison, who served in Iraq about 20 years ago. Thank you all for your service.
Second, our November theme is, “It is a great day to be a Laser, when we’re safe and responsible.” The safety and well-being of our students will always be a top priority here at KMMS. This theme feels timely, seeing the events that took place in Kenosha yesterday. We applaud the efforts of the Kenosha school staff who appropriately intervened and kept their students safe. It also serves as a stark reminder to our students that if they “see something, say something.” We ask our parents to reinforce this message, as students are often privy to potential concerns before adults via social media and peer interactions. If you are unsure whether something should be reported, we should always err on the side of caution and talk to a trusted adult at home and school.
Our students did an excellent job participating in our lockdown drill today and discussing options in case of an emergency.
School safety is a shared responsibility of all community members. Thank you for helping our students be safe and responsible.
Have a wonderful weekend,
