Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

In January, we issued a “pulse check” survey to our students to monitor our progress on 2024-25 school goals. You can see the results of that survey in this report.

We invite parents to have a conversation around the survey data, the 2024-25 school year, improvements we are proud of, and where our continued efforts will focus. We invite all parent feedback as we seek continual school improvement. This parent discussion will take place on February 25, at 3:30 pm, during the next Parent Teacher Organization meeting here at KMMS.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Matt Kitzerow

Laser Ladies of STEM

Laser Ladies of STEM had their third annual event last week themed Mission (im)Possible! This year the challenges were planned by an 8th grade leadership committee that worked blind alongside a staff/adult/high school team without knowing the actual challenges. The student leaders did recruiting, created a logo, did announcements and much more.

During the event, attendees took on three separate challenges focused at solving puzzles, light reflection and a catapult build. Some tasks seemed daunting at first but with teamwork and perseverance, they accomplished so much! We're proud to announce the winning team was Grey L, Vyla S, Cara S and Reagen H. Congratulations to our winning team and all who completed the Mission (im)Possible challenges!

Mrs. Olson's Video Game Design

Mrs Olson's Video Game Design students get to select projects to work on. Some students are taking on the challenge of coding video games in Unity. This program uses C# language and is used in the video game industry to create professional games. Students are learning how to program on the XYZ axis and how to affect physics of an object in a realistic manner. Impressive work by students who are also having a blast!

KMMS Forensics Team

Forensics

The KM Forensics team, where students speak with confidence and conviction, came home with some precious metal on Friday at Slinger Middle School. The team took home 11 medals. Seven Lasers earned Gold Medals for their outstanding performances: Elsa K, Zaraya O, Kassidy W, Kristen M, Anabelle G, and Taylor A. While Jules H and Ellen D secured Silver Medals, and Caylee H and Jolie K claimed Bronze. In total, 26 students achieved State-qualifying scores, and the team continues to improve. Their sights are now set on the next competition at Central Middle School in Hartford. We wish them luck as they continue to sharpen their speaking skills. Keep up the great work, Lasers.

We Love Our School Resource Officer!

SRO Graphic

Saturday (February 15th) is National School Resource Officer Day.  We want to recognize and thank Deputy Cattani for all she does to help keep us safe.  Not all schools are fortunate enough to have a Resource Officer in their school, or even in their district.  We are blessed and grateful that she is here.
Happy National SRO Day Deputy Cattani!  Thank you for choosing to work with us!

KMMS Band Concert HAWS Fundraiser

Kettle Moraine Middle School Band raised $762.95 for HAWS during the Band Charity Concerts last week! 7th Grade students led the project in which they researched different charities and nonprofits in the area and decided as a group to dedicate their winter performances to HAWS.
The 7th grade Bands were visited by the mobile outreach unit from HAWS on Tuesday to present the funds raised and learn more about the impact their efforts will have. Thank you to everyone that donated at the concert, and please consider adopting a new pet from HAWS using the link here.
