Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

We are two weeks into our second semester of the school year, and this will sound cliche, but time is flying! We hope your child’s first half of the school year was filled with growth, learning from mistakes, new learning opportunities, and new or renewed motivation to finish the 2023-24 school year strong.

At KM, we believe firmly that our parent partnerships are fundamental to students succeeding in middle school. While we encourage families to reach out at any time with questions and concerns, we also appreciate the traditional format of Parent Teacher Conferences. So come join us one of the next two Thursdays! All parents should have received instructions from their child’s teachers about how to sign up for conferences. We hope to see you on the evening of Thursday, 2/15, or Thursday, 2/22.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Matt Kitzerow
KMMS Principal

National School Counseling Week

Happy National School Counselor Week!

As we celebrate School Counselor Week, we wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for the invaluable contributions that Mrs. Cowan and Mr. Korb make to our school community. Their dedication, empathy, and unwavering support have a profound impact on the lives of students, parents, and staff.

In their role as school counselors, they go above and beyond to provide guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to those in need. Their commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment creates a sense of belonging for everyone.

Their tireless efforts do not go unnoticed, and the positive influence they exert extends far beyond the walls of the counseling office. Through their guidance, students find the courage to overcome obstacles, discover their strengths, and chart a course towards success.

If you see them, please thank Mr. Korb and Mrs. Cowan for being a source of inspiration, and for all they do to help our school and community.

You have our heartfelt thanks.

Alert: Road Closure on HWY 18 West of HWY 67

Map of Closure

Monday, February 12th, Hwy 18 will be closing for the bridgework between Hwy 67 and Utica Rd. They have closed off an additional road resulting in a decent change to Route 26 and Route 36. In order to keep the busses out of the main traffic patterns we had to switch the travel patterns of these two routes.

Please check Infinite Campus as some students have switched from Rt 26 to Rt 36 and Rt 36 to Rt 26. Both busses are parked last in the lineup and right next to one another at MS in the PM.

Times have changed for AM pick up. PM times are subject to some wiggle room as detours are worked out.

This will begin on Monday February 12th. If you have any questions please let me know.

KMMS Forensics

Forensics 2 24

The KM Forensics Team, where students speak with conviction, competed last Friday in our second meet at Silverbrook Intermediate School in West Bend. The team came away with 14 medals, a team record. Lucy Grisar, Greta Kreitzer, Cass Nighbert, Aayla Johnson, Ben Raymaker, Kristin Mathison, and Ben Previte all took home bronze medals in their respective categories. Sophia Baginski and Jolie Kowalkowski took home silver medals, and Bennett Cramer, Anna Miller, Makenna Holzhauer, Caylee Holinka, and Grace Kamin all earned gold medals for the Lasers. Congrats to the entire team. Now it’s time to continue improving our ability to speak with conviction and prepare for our meet on Friday at Holy Angels School in West Bend.

Scholastic Art Awards

Four KM Middle School students have had their artwork selected for the 2024 Scholastic Art Awards Wisconsin competition and will have their artwork displayed at the Milwaukee Art Museum.  Syd K. and Rachel M. each earned Gold Key Awards and Leo D. and Braden S. each earned Silver Key Awards. Their artwork will be on display February 24 through April 7 and will receive their awards at a ceremony on March 2. The Scholastic Art Competition showcases the extraordinary talents of students from across the state and it is a great achievement to be included in this exhibition.  Congratulations, Rachel, Syd, Braden, and Leo!
