Principal's Post

Happy Friday, and Happy March 1st.  It is hard to believe it is already March.  The weather here in Wisconsin has surely been a rollercoaster of unpredictability. Those of us with middle schoolers and who work regularly with middle schoolers can relate to that analogy. Though some days have more “sunshine” than others here at KMMS, we LOVE our middle school students and community.

We never know whether one day or week or month will be more “stormy” than another, and we thrive on and hold tight to the “sunny days” of watching students learn and grow academically and in their relationship skills here at KMMS. To read the Principal’s Friday message to students, click here.

We are thankful for our partnerships with parents and the community at large. Thank you again to all of the parents who took the time to connect with teachers and other staff members during our conference evenings. Thank you also to the PTO and parents who shower us with meals and other encouragements throughout the year.

We are proud of the number of parents who volunteer to help with extra-curricular activities and who attend KMMS concerts, performances and competitions. We are so glad to have a strong PTO that is thinking forward to the next generation of parent leaders. Speaking of the future of our KMMS PTO, there is a PTO Community Meeting on Tuesday, March 5th at 9am in the KMMS Library. Are you able to join us? Are you interested in getting more involved at KMMS? This might be just the opportunity for you.

Enjoy the weekend. Say warm, or cool, whichever ends up being most appropriate for the unpredictable weather.

NEXT WEEK: Invitation from the KMMS PTO

KMMS National History Day: Regional Results

Congratulations to the KM Middle School National History Day team for showcasing their breadth of knowledge on various topics at the Regional Competition held at Concordia University in Mequon last Saturday.

Four exceptional young historians have advanced to the State competition at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Our representatives and their projects include Faye M. and Avery G.'s documentary, "The Rocking Turning Point to the Fall of the Berlin Wall," Max H.'s website, "How One Game Created a Turning Point for Basketball and Higher Education," and Bryn McH.'s website, "Howard Carter: A Turning Point In Archaeology That Revolutionized Artifact Collection, Study Methods, and Understanding of the Past."

Willa R.'s website, "The Birth of the 'Talkies': The Turning Point That Transformed Entertainment Forever," and Bailey R. and Sarah P.'s website, "The Turning Point that Electrified Music, Altering How Music Was Composed, Played, and Appreciated in Wisconsin, America, and Globally," were selected as alternates for the State competition.

Congratulations to all our young historians for their outstanding efforts in delving deep into their subjects, and recognizing the importance of evidence in historical research.
