Principal's Post

Hello KMMS Families,

I want to highlight a big change coming to KMMS next school year.

Beginning next school year, our middle school will transition from our current 1-5 grading scale to a 100-point grading scale (0-100).

Many families will find that this scale looks more similar to the grading systems you experienced when you were in school, where grades are expressed as percentages. Our grades will become less confusing and more transparent with families. This change will also align our middle school with the high school, which is making the same shift next year.

Our goal with this adjustment is to provide greater clarity and consistency for students and families. A 100-point scale is widely used in high schools and universities, and aligning our grading practices across grade levels will help create a smoother transition for students as they move from middle school to high school.

Over the coming months, we will share additional information about how the grading scale will work and what families and students can expect next year. Our focus remains the same: ensuring that grades clearly communicate student learning and progress.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students.

Have a great weekend,

Matt Kitzerow

Zumba+ lift

All the fun of Zumba® with resistance training mixed in!

Zumba + Lift® blends the fun, low-impact dance fitness you love with simple strength training using light weights (about 5–10 lbs, though, this is up to you and your fitness level). We will alternate between Zumba® routines and dumbbell weight training throughout the entire class to build strength in our major muscle groups. Start with the weights that you feel comfortable with, and add additional weight over time. Please bring your own set of weights, either 2, 5, or 10 lbs. The goal of these classes is to get stronger in a progressive manner. Classes are held this spring on Tuesdays and Thursdays, sign up today at https://kmsd.revtrak.net/rwcommunityeducation/
