Hello KMMS Families,
I want to take a moment and recognize KM’s social worker, Mrs. Baylee Kittel for National School Social Worker Week. As a school social worker, Baylee works tirelessly to bridge gaps between home, school, and community to reduce barriers so students can come to school ready to learn.
One of Baylee’s key areas of focus is improving student attendance, and she leads our student services team in supporting positive attendance habits for our students.
Baylee joined Kettle Moraine in the 2022-23 school year, and since then we have seen meaningful improvements in our attendance data:
Attendance Rate Chronic Absenteeism
2021-22: 93.4% 2021-22: 14.8%
2022-23: 94% 2022-23: 11.6%
2023-24: 94.9% 2023-24: 8.1%
2024-25: 95% 2024-25: 7.6%
2025-26: 95.7% (currently) 2025-26: 5.0% (currently)
Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of the school year. With approximately 175 school days, that means missing 17 or more days of school.
Regular attendance helps students stay connected to their learning, build strong relationships with peers and teachers, and develop habits that prepare them for high school and beyond.
Thank you to Baylee for her leadership in this important work and to our families for partnering with us to support strong attendance for our students.
Have a great weekend,
Matt Kitzerow
