Hello KMMS Families,
April 6th-10th is National School Assistant Principal’s week, and we want to recognize KMMS Associate Principal, Ms. Laura Lloyd. We are very fortunate to have Ms. Lloyd who comes with a wealth of experience, 15+ years at KMMS. Ms. Lloyd also serves as the co-Director of Safety for the Kettle Moraine School District. Safety and staff/student relationships are at Ms. Lloyd’s core, and her attention to these values is on display each and every day. We have a saying at KMMS, “It’s a great day to be a Laser when we treat each other well,” and our school community is blessed to have Ms. Lloyd model this at the highest level.
If you have a moment, please reach out to Ms. Lloyd and express your gratitude for all she does for KM. She is a Duke Blue Devil, so I would avoid bringing up the recent Elite 8 game vs. UConn (too soon).
Thank you for all you do, Ms. Lloyd!
Have a great weekend KM,
Matt Kitzerow KMMS Principal
Laura Lloyd KMMS Associate Principal

Theater Immersion Experience
|
|
|
Middle school performers from southeastern Wisconsin recently traded their typical school day for a deep dive into the professional world of performing arts. Held at the Oconomowoc Arts Center, Theater Arts Immersion Day brought together emerging talent in grades 6-8 for an intensive day of workshops, performance, and career exploration.
The event, a collaboration between the SLALN organization and the Oconomowoc High School Theater Department, was designed to give young artists a taste of life in the spotlight and the technical expertise required behind the scenes.
Students engaged in several breakout sessions led by experienced theater practitioners and high school mentors. Key highlights of the day included:
The Actor’s Craft: Students prepared and performed monologues, receiving personalized professional feedback to help them grow their stage presence and vocal technique.
Improvisation & Tech: Workshops ranged from high-energy improv games and "cold readings" to the technical "magic" of theater—including costume design, blocking, and the history of the ghost light.
The Business of Theater: Students gained rare insight into professional careers, hearing from a high school student currently represented by a talent agent and exploring technical marvels like an 8-foot articulated alligator puppet used in prop design.
We are incredibly proud of our 8th-grade participants from both KM-Create and KM-Inspire who represented our district with such creativity and talent: Georgie C., Layla K., Sofia K., and Julia V.
The day concluded with a community lunch al fresco in the OAC courtyard, allowing students to connect with other young performers from across the region. We look forward to seeing how these talented individuals bring their new skills back to our Kettle Moraine stages!

Celebrating our SWD Teachers and Paraprofessionals |
|
|
On Wednesday, April 8, we had the pleasure of celebrating our paraprofessionals and special education teachers with a special appreciation breakfast. This event was sponsored by the Kindness Crusaders (Ambassadors) along with several generous parents who helped make it possible.
We are so grateful for the dedication, compassion, and support these staff members provide to our students each day. Their impact does not go unnoticed, and it was wonderful to take time as a school community to recognize all that they do.

The Kettle Moraine Youth Volleyball Committee is excited to announce that assessments for the Fall 2026 season will be held in May! Boys and girls entering grades 5-8 in the fall of 2026 are eligible to participate in the league. While these are not “try outs” in the traditional sense as each child will have a spot, rather they will be assessments on skill level to determine which team (A, B, or C) your child will be placed on. Practices are held twice per week August-October with league play on the weekends. Enrollment is limited.
Dates:
May 12th, 14th and 15th
· Incoming 5th and 6th grade from 6pm until 7pm at KMHS West Gym
· Incoming 7th and 8th grade from 7:30pm until 9pm at KMHS West Gym
The first two dates are required with the third date highly encouraged.
Our goal is to create a positive experience giving athletes multiple opportunities to showcase their skills without the stress of a single assessment day. For further information or to register, visit www. https://kettlemorainevolleyball.sportngin.com/. Sign up today and we look forward to seeing your athlete on the court in May! There is a parent informational meeting on April 27 at 6pm in the high school library.
