Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

The end of the year has no shortage of fun and celebrations. Our whole 6th grade attended the Dockhounds game yesterday and workers commented on how well behaved they were! Next week is full of music concerts, and our 8th grade band is headed to the Kalahari for the Beyond the Notes Festival. Create will hold a house-wide celebration event at Cory Park the last week of school. Our 7th graders have a day at the zoo. Our 8th graders have a bowling trip, a completion ceremony, and a final dance.

Amongst the fun, there will be important final lessons and an emphasis on students’ responsibilities that promote the academic excellence of KM. It is important our students continue to be in routines with good sleep, reading each night, and working with their teachers to finish strong!

Have a great weekend,

Matt Kitzerow

Message from Deputy Cattani

Dear KMMS Families,

As we maintain our commitment to the safety of our students, I would like to emphasize the importance of responsible driving within school zones. Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in instances where parents are exceeding the posted speed limit on Ottawa Avenue, as well as disregarding the presence of pedestrians and driving through the crosswalk area while there are students/staff present in the road.

In the interest of safeguarding our students and preventing any potential citations for traffic violations, I strongly urge all parents to drive with increased caution and awareness while navigating this area. I would also like to encourage parents to use the designated area on the south side of the building for drop-off/pick-up and to please keep crosswalks reserved for students who are walking in the area.

Thank you for keeping our students safe,

Deputy Cattani

Drop Off & Pick up Reminders & Requests

Students - Whether you are walking home, getting picked up or riding your bike, ALWAYS cross at the marked crosswalk. This is where adults are stationed to help you cross Ottawa Ave safely.  Please remember to also use the sidewalk after you have crossed the street.

Drivers - Please be patient as we close out the school year and battle the congestion and increased traffic due to the Bridge work on Hwy 18.  We are all looking forward to this project being completed...hopefully before the end of the school year!

Please remind your student to use the crosswalk and sidewalks. Please be alert and watch for pedestrians and stop for people in crosswalks.

Thanks for working together to make our community safer.
