Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

End of the year excitement is in full force. We have had a great school year and for a lack of better words, we want to have a great finish. All of this depends on our staff, students, and parents working together. Our monthly themes throughout the school year have emphasized safety, readiness to learn, accountability, and proper treatment of one another. We’re resharing this slideshow we sent to families on Wednesday, that was part of a Thursday announcement to students. Parent/guardian conversations that emphasize following through with coursework, using safe words and actions, owning mistakes and learning from them, and treating others well will make a great impact.

The slideshow also includes a recent TikTok trend of students putting metal conductors (pins, paper clips, pencil lead) into the USB port of Chromebooks, heating up the lithium battery, and causing smoke, sparks, or even a potential fire. We can’t emphasize enough the safety concerns that this would cause, and that our students’ curiosity cannot get the best of them. Someone could get hurt! We’re still waiting for a TikTok trend that influences students to regularly check the school Lost & Found (we have a ton of stuff that students need to claim before year’s end!).

Thank you for continuing to partner with us to finish the school year strong!

Have a great weekend and happy Mother’s Day to those celebrating,

Matt Kitzerow

On Saturday, KMMS Best Buddies participated in the Annual Best Buddies Walk of Wisconsin, raising awareness for kids with disabilities and the importance of inclusion. The Middle School team raised a total of $790 for the Best Buddies organization!

The event included a giant dance party, jump house, fun prizes, and even meeting Sal Frelick from the Milwaukee Brewers! But most importantly, the walk was an opportunity for students of all abilities to feel welcome, have fun, and spend time with their peers!

Orange Theory Fitness Coach @ KMMS Track

Delafield Orangetheory Fitness Coach and Kettle Moraine parent, Mel Moose, worked with our Middle School Track program during their practice. They focused on flexibility, strength and the importance of proper form. This is the second time that she has donated her time and skills to help our middle school programming. She also did a conditioning session with the middle school cross country team last fall. The track team athletes were so excited to have her back again and are appreciative of her dedication to health and fitness for all ages!
Thank you so much Mel for giving back to the schools and helping our youth!

KMSD Listening Sessions

COMMUNITY FISCAL PLANNING LISTENING SESSIONS!!! We will be conducting listening sessions for the board to hear from community members regarding Scenario IIA for addressing the long-term stability of the district. This is a great opportunity for our community to better understand how closing one elementary school, restructuring our 4K-(4 or 5) district boundaries, and making changes to middle school and high school operations, will impact families. This also provides a forum for our community to inform the decision making process and learn more about each of our elementary schools. For more information on the fiscal planning process, please visit kmsd.edu/fiscal-planning.
