Hello KMMS Families,
I don’t think I’ve ever seen as many Packer jerseys and Packer apparel in our school as I saw yesterday. It was awesome. We’re seeing other great things from our students as well, like learning the flow of the school day schedule, following important school rules, and diving into academics.
Speaking of academics, one of our school goals for 2025-26 is focusing on “relevance” with what our students are learning each day. Last spring, 71% of our students answered positively to the School Perceptions question, “I can relate to what I am learning in school.” Our goal is that at least 76% of our students answer positively to that same question this spring. Many students have already heard about “why are we learning this,” or the importance of note-taking beyond just social studies class, or what careers utilize math (spoiler alert: it’s a lot). Relevance to current passions, real-world interests, and future goals is crucial to keep our students engaged.
We encourage our parents to ask their child frequently, “why do you think this is important to learn?” Those answers will grow deeper and more thoughtful as the year progresses. We’re looking forward to it.
Have a great weekend,
