Principal's Post

Hello KMMS Families,

I don’t think I’ve ever seen as many Packer jerseys and Packer apparel in our school as I saw yesterday. It was awesome. We’re seeing other great things from our students as well, like learning the flow of the school day schedule, following important school rules, and diving into academics.

Speaking of academics, one of our school goals for 2025-26 is focusing on “relevance” with what our students are learning each day. Last spring, 71% of our students answered positively to the School Perceptions question, “I can relate to what I am learning in school.” Our goal is that at least 76% of our students answer positively to that same question this spring. Many students have already heard about “why are we learning this,” or the importance of note-taking beyond just social studies class, or what careers utilize math (spoiler alert: it’s a lot). Relevance to current passions, real-world interests, and future goals is crucial to keep our students engaged.

We encourage our parents to ask their child frequently, “why do you think this is important to learn?” Those answers will grow deeper and more thoughtful as the year progresses. We’re looking forward to it.

Have a great weekend,

Matt Kitzerow
Principal

Mr Brickl from Mike Brickl Photography visited Mrs Olson's Video Game Design/Film class this week to share his experience and to help students learn valuable film composition techniques such as leading lines. A big topic of conversation was about how to tell a story with pictures to achieve a great outcome. Thanks to Mr Brickl for joining the class with such an enthusiastic lesson!

From Deputy Cattani: Traffic Pattern Update

Important Reminder: Traffic Pattern & Drop-Off Procedures

Thank you to all who have helped make the new traffic pattern a success!

After 7:20am the route behind the school will be closed due to outdoor classes. If you are dropping off your student(s) late (between 7:20–8:40 a.m.), please follow one of the two approved routes entering the campus from Hwy 67 onto Laser Trail.

Option 1: Drop off your student at the designated area in the middle parking lot, then exit using the west exit onto Ottawa Ave.
Option 2:
Continue in front of the school and drop off your student at the front doors, continue on to merge with Dousman Elementary parent traffic, and exit using the east exit on Ottawa Ave.

Important: Do NOT enter any areas marked “Do Not Enter” — these are exit-only lanes. Unauthorized entry into these areas may result in a citation from local law enforcement.

Please refer to the maps below for a visual guide to the approved routes. Thank you for keeping our students safe!

The teacher appreciation committee puts on several events throughout the year and we need your help to make that happen!  We understand that not everyone is able to volunteer time with schedules being so busy.  This is a great way to show your appreciation for our teachers and support these ongoing events!  Our goal is to raise at least $3,000 dollars.  The more money we raise the less we will ask throughout the year.  We provide several meals, treats, snacks, coffee, tea, gifts, etc. for the teachers throughout the year.  We also supply the break room with different appliances that the teachers request (microwave, ice machine, tea kettle, etc.).   Link to Sign Up Genius

Your donation will help us give back to the teachers and staff who give so much to our kids!

This is your opportunity to make a cash or supply donation to the KMMS Teacher Appreciation Committee.  Cash donations are made via Infinite Campus.  There will be additional opportunities to donate supplies and food for our hosted meal events throughout the year.

To make a payment in Infinite Campus select your KMMS student, select ' fees' from the drop down menu on the left then select ' optional payments' at the very bottom. Donations should be made using the option " MS - PTO Donation.' Click 'My Cart" on the right side of the screen and enter the amount that you want to donate. Click submit at the bottom of the screen. Thank you for your generous support!
