Hello KMMS families,
As we wrap up our first 5-day week of the school year, it is only fitting that it is on Friday the 13th. The only real superstition might be our staff believing we could get through the whole week without one playground ball booted on the roof. Nonetheless, it’s been a great start to the year!
Earlier this week, students viewed a video Ms. Lloyd and I made about being “Ready to Learn,” which is our September theme. As we focus on “Ready to Learn” mindsets, we discussed two vocabulary words that are district values: integrity and accountability. While you may not want to spend 8 minutes of your time watching this amateur production (we are going to fix our sound issues for October), here is a recap of the messaging to our students:
Show up! Attendance matters. Students learn best when they are on time for school, on time for each of their classes, and here for as many school days as possible.
Demonstrate integrity and accountability with school rules pertaining to cell phones, and expectations for behavior in the cafeteria, at recess time, in bathrooms, in hallways, and in classrooms. It contributes to an overall better school environment for everyone to learn.
Be an active participant in your education. Show up with everything you need from a charged Chromebook to other supplies, participate in class, ask questions when you need help, and treat your teachers and fellow students with respect.
If you do watch the video, and are in fact superstitious, yes, I may have jinxed Jordan Love. We filmed the video prior to his injury…
Have a great weekend,
