Principal's Post

Greetings KMMS Parents,

KMMS Back-To-School Night:

We are looking forward to seeing parents/guardians Monday night (9/30) from 6:00-7:00 PM for our Back-To-School Night. Information will include:

  • Overview of your child’s school day

  • Key points related to student’s core area subjects (math, science, literacy, and social studies)

  • Homework expectations

  • ALEKS and IXL expectations

  • Canvas Support - where to look for important coursework information and on how to help support your child at home

The format for this night will be:

  • Grade level presentations taking place at 6:00 PM and 6:30PM. The same presentation is running both times.  Please choose one.  No need to attend both.

    • This allows you the ability to go see another grade level presentation if you have a child in more than one grade level.

  • This night is not a Parent Teacher Conference night. Teachers will be going through their House presentations and will not be holding individual conferences.  Our conferences are coming up on November 4th and November 7th.

We have included the slideshows in case you would like to review them prior to Monday night or if you are unable to attend.

Presentations: Create, 6th Inspire, 7th Inspire, 8th Inspire

This video created by Mrs. Kathie Hogan also is a great Canvas tutorial for parents.

Thank you for your partnership,

Matt Kitzerow

Healthy & Active Lifestyles - Virtual 5K

Students in Mrs. Weske's and Ms. Pasternak's Healthy & Active Lifestyles classes will be participating in a Virtual 5K this month to raise awareness for Hope to Walk. Hope to Walk is a non-profit organization that exists simply to help the impoverished people of the world to walk again. Millions of amputees worldwide depend on wheelchairs and crutches. Some are even forced to crawl simply because they cannot afford prosthetics.

Please consider donating or participating in the virtual 5K.

70% of Hope To Walk’s patients are able to return to work again. They are also able to care for themselves and their families and be part of their communities again. It is a good thing to give someone a meal but far better to give them the ability to obtain their own meals. This empowering of others and letting them know of their innate value is at the core of Hope To Walk.

Last year, we raised over $500 and were able to provide 2 prosthetic legs! The recipients were Francisco (age 62) and Mercedes del Carmen (age 64) both from Honduras.  Please consider donating!

KMMS retake days are scheduled for Monday, November 4th (7-10:30am) and Thursday, November 7th (3:30-6:30pm). These are not school days. The retakes correspond with Parent/Teacher conferences this year.

Please feel free to use our KMMS Events calendar (found on the KMMS Website) for dates and times of concerts, conferences, and other special events for middle school parents and students.

New Families: Reporting an Absence for a KMMS Student

IC graphic

There are a number of ways to notify KMMS of a student absence, late arrival or early release.

  • Use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal

Instructions for the IC Parent Portal
    Enter the Parent Portal
    Go to “More”
    Go to “Absence Request”
Choose student name, reason for absence, date and time (if applicable). If you’d like to leave us more information, there is a comment section
    Click Submit

When your IC Portal request for early release is approved, an email goes to your student's school email account. That email can be used for a pass to the office. We also attempt to send paper passes to remind students of their early releases.

  • Call the KMMS Attendance line: 262-965-6500 ext.2050

  • Email an administrative assistant with the information.

Additionally, KMMS students may sign themselves into the building without a parent. If you drop your student at the front entrance after 7:20am, please watch to be sure that they enter the building and are helped. KMMS students may sign themselves out of the building without a parent present, as long as we are aware that the student has permission to leave before they arrive at the office for departure.
