Principal's Post

Hello KMMS families,

We’ve had a fun homecoming week in KM that will hopefully be capped with a great parade and football game this evening. Thank you to all of our families for encouraging student participation and appropriate attire for the spirit week dress up days.

We want to provide you with a heads up for two things coming your way next week:

  1. You will begin to receive a monthly email about your student’s attendance. The message will be a review of any excused or unexcused absences your student had over the previous month. Your student’s attendance is crucial to their progress and learning and we want to make sure there are no discrepancies.

  2. Your student will be bringing home an envelope by the end of the week that has their state test (FORWARD) results. There is also a copy of the results in their student file at school in case you would like to request a second copy.

As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Go Lasers,

Matt Kitzerow

New this Year - Attendance Emails

KMMS will be sending automated attendance report emails for each student on the first Monday of each month. The report will show days absent and am tardy marks. All families will receive these emails regardless of whether or not absences have occurred.

Safety First!

Pick Up Safety & Courtesy

Please use the pick up line at KMMS to retrieve your student(s) after school unless you have made special arrangements with our office. Neighbors on Ottawa Avenue and Wolf Drive are very concerned for your child(ren)'s safety in non-school sanctioned pick up areas.

Thank you!

Locker Decorations

We often have requests from students and parents about decorating lockers for birthdays. We are happy to accommodate these requests with the following guidelines:

  • Decorations should not interfere with the functioning of the locker or nearby lockers

  • No food, gum or candy items as decorations

  • No balloons (We have students/staff with severe latex allergies.)

  • Please help the birthday person clean up the decorations after a week or two.

Blessings in a Backpack

Kettle Moraine Middle School is a proud partner of a non-profit organization called Blessings in a Backpack.Through this partnership, your child is eligible to be a recipient of the Blessings in a Backpack program. This program is currently in all of the Kettle Moraine Elementary schools.

The program is designed to provide non-perishable food every Friday to children that
would benefit from supplemental nourishment over the weekend. The program runs the
full school year and there is no cost to participate. If you choose to participate, your child
will receive a bag of non-perishable food every Friday which will be distributed in a discreet and caring manner. This will begin Friday October 6th.

If you want your child(ren) to participate, please complete this form.

We fully understand that these few years at the middle school go by very quickly and there is no shortage of places to be or efforts to rally around. It has been humbling to consistently see our community so generously support our Teacher Appreciation efforts over the past year and during our recent drive. Our next area of focus is partnering with staff, students and of course, parents, to identify, fund and execute additional projects that serve our vision of exceptional students that are academically and socially prepared for the next step in life. As always, thank you for your participation and partnership.
