Hello KMMS families,
We want to thank our parents for a successful first month of school. You might be thinking, would you tell us if you thought it was an unsuccessful first month? I’m not going to answer that, and I'm glad I don't have to at this time! But here is some evidence to support the notion of a successful start of the year:
Our year-to-date attendance rate is at 96.1%. This is higher than last year’s 94% rate and well above the state average of 90%.
We had fewer office behavior referrals in September 2023 than we did in September 2022.
Students need to be in school as much as possible for the continuity of teaching and learning. And when students are here, their behavior and how they treat other people matter!
You may be aware that October is National Bullying Prevention Month. This morning’s student announcement was meant to give students information about bullying and hazing, so they can make informed decisions about how they treat one another. While school is an important place for students to learn, conversations at home prove to be even more impactful. We ask our parents to discuss two crucial items as we work to make KMMS a bully-free school environment:
How are you treating other students?
How would you report bullying behavior directed towards you or others?
All KMMS staff, Ms. Lloyd, and I are here to help. We appreciate your partnership in supporting your student’s experience here at KMMS.
Have a great weekend,
