KM CFO, John Stellmacher, was awarded Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) 2024 School Business Manager of the Year at their State Convention. A former WASBO President, and critical advocate for educational funding, Stellmacher has been a leader in Wisconsin education. John mentors countless business managers, and provides instrumental support to the Southeast Wisconsin Schools Alliance (SWSA), advising on fiscal solvency and providing quality education efficiently. If you live in the Kettle Moraine School District and have concerns about your child ages 3 and 5 years old, who has not yet attended kindergarten, consider scheduling a free screening. The District Early Childhood Team facilitates a screening with a variety of play-based activities to assess communication, gross and fine motor skills, social/emotional development, and pre-academic skills. This event is a great opportunity for families interested in learning more about Explore. This presentation will explain our free public charter. It will also allow you to see our school and multi-age classrooms. There will also be a "See It Live" event on Thursday Jan. 25th at 10:00 am where interested families can observe classrooms during school hours. With the bitterly cold weather, students had to remain indoors this week for recess. Third graders at Dousman Elementary chose a service project and made dog toy/tugs and cat toys for HAWS. This was a great way for them to utilize their indoor recess time and give something back in the process. The toys will undoubtedly provide some comfort and entertainment to the many animals awaiting adoption, who are also stuck inside due to the cold. Special thanks to the parents who donated the fleece for the project.

This is a great opportunity for girls to spend some quality time with dad, grandpa, or a father figure. The dance will be held at the KMHS Middle Gym from 4-6 pm. DJ Otto will be playing the music and there will be snacks, crafts, games and a photo booth. The cost is $5 per person!

Brock N. and Sawyer V. in Mr. Gutbrod's 8th grade Design and Build class made a firefighter gear dryer for their project. They were incredibly excited to market their idea and have already raised more funds than they expected. Their plan is to build them for a number of local fire stations. If you'd like to make a contribution to this cause, they are accepting donations until Monday.

This week, our KMMS 7th and 8th grade Band students joined the KMHS Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony for combined performances in the high school auditorium! Hundreds of Band students shared the stage in two nights of unforgettable concerts. These opportunities for students of different ages to perform together are always a wonderful learning experience and we appreciate all who particpated!

The Symphonic Band presented the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight with a check for $1,000 during the Winter Concert Wednesday! Students raised funds through Breakfast with Santa and proceeds from the Bake Sale. KMHS Band families donated time, baked goods, and other resources to support the event. Ms. O'Gorman's Culinary Class also had a hand in contributing baked goods for the sale.
