Parent Advisory, Tuesday 10/28 6PM
Our second parent advisory meeting is Tuesday 10/28 at 6PM in the KM Perform Community Room. Parent advisory is your opportunity to learn about our school, give feedback on our initiatives, and participate in our planning process. I usually start with a topic and then open it up for questions or discussion. Meetings are informal and casual and I always look forward to hanging out with this fun group!
Starter topics for our October Meeting:
ACT Scores and Performance - KM Perform has the #6 ACT score in the state. We will talk about what we did to move our academic profile in this direction and how we are building student interest in Math and Science.
Student Culture - I will some of the key points from our student advisory lessons
Parent Digest - I will walk you through this report and talk specifically about the Academic Excellence scores that are included in these reports.
Conferences
Reminder: If you would like a fall parent/teacher conference, please fill out a Conference appointment request by the end of this week and mentors will reach out and get that schedule. CONFERENCE REQUEST FORM
Enrollment Meetings for 2026-2027
Do you know anyone who might be interested in KM Perform next year? We are always looking for engaged musicians, actors, writers, filmmakers, and artists. KM Perform is a college prep school. Most of our college bound students pursue majors outside of the arts after they graduate from KM Perform. Students do not need to be planning on an arts career or major in college to get the most out of KM Perform. This is a place to build a resume, get leadership experience, and practice collaboration skills. Please help spread the word!

Fun News from Director Erickson
You may have seen social media posts that I was selected as one of twelve educators nationwide to participate in the 2025–26 Embedded Teacher Program (ETP), offered by Space for Teachers. Next month I will attend training at a microgravity workshop at the University of Texas at Austin Center for Space Research and then for the next year I will be embedded with aerospace experts to bring space sciences to the classroom. At the culmination of this program, I will fly on the nation’s only zero-gravity aircraft, the same platform used by NASA, universities, and aerospace companies for authentic microgravity research and astronaut training. The plane (unfortunately known as the “vomit comet”) does hyperbolic flights to create actual zero-gravity suitable for NASA training but also research and experimentation.
Why it matters for KM Perform students
The main component of this project is to bring an authentic research project to the classroom. I will be doing Applied Mathematics and Design (AMD) seminars where students will start the design process for the lab I will bring aboard the hyperbolic flight. The series of seminars will begin in November and will continue with a variety of exciting opportunities for all students throughout the year.
