WALES CONFERENCE SIGN UPS

Hello Wales Parents and Guardians!

Teachers will be hosting conferences on Thursday, February 13th from 3:30 - 7:30 and Friday, February 14th from 8am - Noon. You can sign up for conferences by going to this document, clicking on your teacher's name, and finding a slot that works for you.

Hello Explore Parents and Guardians,

As always, if you would like a conference with your child's teacher, please reach out to them directly to set something up.

RECESS SNOW GEAR POLICY

We recently reviewed this rule with our students and staff, and wanted to make sure parents were aware of this rule as well -

If there is any visible snow outside, students will need to wear snow pants AND boots in order to play off of the blacktop at recess.

Ideally, kids should bring snow gear every day through until mid-April as we all know how Wisconsin weather can change in a minute's notice.

As always, the office has a limited supply of extra winter gear, but once it's gone, it's gone!

'TIS THE SEASON TO TAKE VACATIONS!

If your family is planning on taking a vacation in the next few months before school is out, that's great! Here are a few things you may want to keep in mind before you go...

1) If you would like your child's teacher to gather some work for your kiddo to do while traveling, please email your teacher directly at least 3 days before the work is needed to ask for it.

2) While we understand and see value in family vacation time, we want you to understand that the time away from school will be counted against your child's attendance - even if it is excused.

3) As a reminder, when a child hits 5 days of school missing, letters will be sent home reminding your family the importance of school attendance.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Wales Principal, Jen Balzer or Explore's Director, Tiffany Zeirke.

CALLING ALL 5TH GRADE PARENTS!

We are entering our student's FINAL semester of elementary school! (Who's crying!?) We would love to send our students off to middle school as prepared and celebrated as possible. Here are a few things you should know about -

  • There are some dates coming up at the Middle School to help with the 5th grade transition into the Middle School. Read all about them here.

  • T-shirt sizes are needed! Please make sure your 5th grader knows what their t-shirt size is. The PTO provides t-shirts for all of our outgoing 5th graders.

  • Baby pictures needed! You can email them to Mrs. Schultz at schultzr@kmsd.edu OR upload them directly to the treering website. Here are the directions. These pictures will be used for our 5th Grade "moving on" ceremony at the end of the year as well as put in the yearbook. Here are a few guidelines to use -

    • Child should be younger than 4 years old

    • Only 1 person in the image

    • Ideally, a vertical portrait photo orientation (not landscape)

    • Good lighting on the face so it's not too dark

WALES AND EXPLORE FAMILY DIRECTORIES

In accordance with our student handbook, families MUST OPT IN to school directories. If you would like your student's info to be available to other students for play dates, birthday invitations, etc, you must fill out the form below. Please fill out one form per child.

If you would like access to the collected information, you must email your classroom teacher or Mrs. Schultz at schultzr@kmsd.edu and ask for the directory, as it cannot be published on any public sites. The spreadsheet you will receive is a live document and will be updated as parents fill out the form.

Once again, you MUST fill out this form for Wales or this form for Explore in order to be included in the directory.

After it is completed, email Mrs. Schultz or your classroom teacher to ask for a copy of the directory.
