FIELD TRIP AND SCHOOL VOLUNTEER PROCESS

We are full swing for field trip and special activity season!! We love having parents and other important adults in our students' lives come to help out. However, as always, safety of our students is top priority. This means that every adult that goes on a field trip OR volunteers in the building must complete a full background check as outlined by our district.

In the past, this has been done through a paper method. Starting last year, we switched over to an online form that takes less than 2 minutes to complete. This form then gets sent to the company we work with for background checks. The process of the form being run and being sent back to us can take a couple minutes, or a couple of weeks. Therefore, we are asking that this online form be completed at least 2 weeks before the day of the field trip or classroom event. You will receive this online form from your classroom teacher if you have agreed to volunteer for a specific event.

Please note: Anyone whose background check has not been completed and returned to us by the date of the field trip or event will NOT be allowed to participate in the activity.

Thank you for your help in keeping our kids safe.

WOOT WOOT! TOOT TOOT! THE SNACK WAGON CAME TO TOWN

Do you remember back in the beginning of the year when we asked for families to help fulfill some wish list items for our school which would go towards our snack bin for students and our teacher's lounge for staff? We wanted to show you what we are accomplishing with your donations!

Kids Snacks
You all were SO generous with our snacks for our kids that they are still going strong! Mrs. Schultz fills up this bucket once per week with all kinds of healthy and classroom-friendly snacks. Not only does this help the kids who aren't able to provide a breakfast or snack from home, but it also benefits the kids who forgot their snack and serves as a reward bucket once in a while for a kiddo who really needs a pick-me-up! Not only this, but our teachers haven't had to purchase any kids snacks from their own pocket this year! All in all, this beginning of the year donation has really sored and helped to make concentration easier, and ease anxieties of both parents and kids when snacks are forgotten. THANK YOU!!

Teacher Snacks
This wasn't a category we were expecting would get much attention, and yet you all made it happen! As the donations came in, we were pondering the best way to make staff feel loved and appreciated and decided upon a weekly "Woot Woot Wagon!" Every Monday, Mrs. Schultz pulls teacher snacks from donations and puts them in the teachers lounge. The expectation is that every staff members gets a little "pick me up" to start their Monday morning. We have heard so much positive feedback about this little incentive and would love to keep it going throughout the year.

If you would like to contribute to making our staff smile on Monday mornings, all you need to do is click on this link and make a purchase. It will come directly to our office for staff to enjoy. Simple, easy and makes a BIG difference to our staff!

Student Snacks
Donated snacks are always available for every student who needs one in our office.
Woot Woot Wagon
With your donation, every Monday teachers get to enjoy a little something to start out their week from the "Woot Woot Wagon"!

COUNSELING CORNER

Is it bullying?

This week, our students are learning the importance of reporting and refusing to help stop bullying.

We teach kids to report bullying to a caring adult at home or at school. Reporting bullying is not tattling. We take all bullying reports seriously and do a thorough investigation to determine the next best steps for the situation.

Refusing means to stand up against bullying and say words in a strong, respectful voice that mean stop. Watch for your student's activity from this week and ask them to practice telling you what they would say if they saw bullying happening at our school.

FAMILY DIRECTORIES

In accordance with our student handbook, families MUST OPT IN to school directories. If you would like your student's info to be available to other students for play dates, birthday invitations, etc, you must fill out the form below. Please fill out one form per child.

If you would like access to the collected information, you must email your classroom teacher or Mrs. Schultz at schultzr@kmsd.edu and ask for the directory, as it cannot be published on any public sites. The spreadsheet you will receive is a live document and will be updated as parents fill out the form.
