FLYING INTO KINDERGARTEN

COUNSELING CORNER-
Child Protection Unit

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your child learns important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school during their classroom graduate profile and guidance lessons. These lessons help our school be a safe and supportive place where everyone can learn.

To help make our school even more safe and supportive, we use elements of the Second Step Child Protection Unit. In these lessons, students learn three types of skills:

Personal Safety. Students will learn important safety rules, such as safety with guns, sharp tools, and fire, and when riding on wheels or in cars. They will also learn ways to help them decide if something is safe or not.

Touching Safety. Students will learn about safe, unsafe, and unwanted touches, and rules about touching private body parts. Private body parts will only be described as the areas that your swimsuit covers. We will not be using specific body part names. They will also learn to say no to unsafe or unwanted touches, and to tell an adult if someone breaks rules about touching private body parts.

Assertiveness. Students will learn the Recognize, Report, and Refuse model, practice asking an adult for help, telling an adult about an unsafe situation, and being assertive to get out of unsafe situations.

Your child will bring home activities and Home Links to help you understand what they are learning at school regarding safety. Please contact me if you have any questions about the Child Protection Unit. Thank you for helping us to make our school a safe and supportive place where everyone can learn.

Sincerely,

Allie Mathson,
School Counselor

Select Fall Youth Volleyball

The Kettle Moraine Youth Volleyball Committee is excited to announce that assessments for the Fall 2026 season will be held in May!  Boys and girls entering grades 5-8 in the fall of 2026 are eligible to participate in the league. While these are not “try outs” in the traditional sense as each child will have a spot, rather they will be assessments on skill level to determine which team (A, B, or C) your child will be placed on. Practices are held twice per week August-October with league play on the weekends within the GMPL League.  League games are held at the Sting Center, OAW, MOSH, and Center court.   Enrollment is limited.

Dates:

May 12th, 14th and 15th

·         Incoming 5th and 6th grade from 6pm until 7pm at KMHS West Gym

·         Incoming 7th and 8th grade from 7:30pm until 9pm at KMHS West Gym

The first two dates are required with the third date highly encouraged.

Our goal is to create a positive experience giving athletes multiple opportunities to showcase their skills without the stress of a single assessment day. For further information or to register, visit www. https://kettlemorainevolleyball.sportngin.com/.  Sign up today and we look forward to seeing your athlete on the court in May!
