NEW FOR THIS YEAR - DROP OFF AND PICK UP CHANGES

We’d like to kindly remind everyone that drop off begins at 8:20 AM. For the safety and supervision of all students, we ask that children are not dropped off before this time, as staff will not be available to supervise them. This includes front door drop off as well which is new this year.

We also want to inform you of an important update to our morning schedule.

Beginning this year, students will be marked tardy if they arrive at or after 8:30 AM.
Please ensure your child arrives on campus ready to begin their day by this time.

We appreciate your support, cooperation, and understanding in helping us ensure a safe and smooth start to the school day.

BEGINNING OF THE YEAR INFORMATION

First Day of School

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

First day of school for Wales 5-year-old Kindergarten will be Thursday, August 28th from 8:30 - 11:35am. Buses will run drop off and pick up routes on this day.

First day of school for KM Explore's First-year Navigators (5-year-old Kindergarten) will be Tuesday, September 2nd - same as the rest of Explore.

All other students' first day will be Tuesday, September 2nd.

Great Start Conferences

Great Start Conferences are a time for you and your learner to see their new classroom, meet teachers, drop off supplies, learn more about what our campus has to offer this year, and get your school picture taken!

Wales 5-year-old Kindergarten, please sign up for a Great Start Conference time here for Mrs. Hoffland and here for Mrs. Peters.

Wales Grades 1-5; there is no need to sign up for a time - just stop in at one of the times below, and partake in the fun!

Please note that the photographer will be on hand for the entirety of the Great Start Conferences so you can choose to have your pictures taken before or after your conference(s).

ALL CAMPUS Back to School Bash!

Come join us for some fun and friendship on Wednesday, August 27th from 5:30 - 7:00pm!

What is it?
A fun get-together! See last year's school friends and meet new ones! Mingle with parents while the kids play on the playground and partake in different teacher-lead activities.

Food Available!
Sheila Smith of Keller Williams Realty will be grilling burgers in exchange for a donation to the Oasis Foundation which helps to tutor some of our students. Ms. Balzer and Mrs. Zeirke will be passing out popcorn for free as well!

Can I bring the whole family?
Absolutely! This is a great time for ALL of our families - older and younger siblings included - to get involved in our school community.

Let's all get together for some fun and start this year off right!

Snack Bucket Is Back!

Due to its success last year, our front office "Snack Bucket" has returned!

It's available to any student in need of a snack during the day due to forgetting their snack, or not having snacks at home. The bucket is stocked entirely by generous family donations, either through our Amazon list or by bringing in similar snacks. Mrs. Schultz oversees it to ensure fair use. Thank you for helping keep our students fed and ready to learn!

HEALTH ROOM MEDICATIONS

Medications in Health Room
As we approach the beginning of the school year, it is requested that any medication that is to be taken at school must have a new medication authorization form on file each school year.

Over the counter medications do not need a physician's signature unless requesting to give more than the recommended dose.

The school district does have ibuprofen, Tylenol, and Benadryl on hand if you are interested in having your child receive a dose as needed, you must also complete a stock medication authorization form linked above (2nd page listed).

WALES AND EXPLORE FAMILY DIRECTORIES

In accordance with our student handbook, families MUST OPT IN to school directories. If you would like your student's info to be available to other students for play dates, birthday invitations, etc, you must fill out the form below. Please fill out one form per child. 

If you would like access to the collected information, you must email your classroom teacher or Mrs. Schultz at schultzr@kmsd.edu and ask for the directory, as it cannot be published on any public sites. The spreadsheet you will receive is a live document and will be updated as parents fill out the form.

Once again, you MUST fill out this form for Wales or this form for Explore in order to be included in the directory.

After it is completed, email Mrs. Schultz or your classroom teacher to ask for a copy of the directory.
