NEW FOR THIS YEAR - DROP OFF AND PICK UP CHANGES

Thank you to all for helping and cooperating with all of the changes this year. They are working out really well on our end, and helps us give staff time to get ready, keeps students safe, and helps us align with other elementary schools in our district. We greatly appreciate your partnership with these changes.

We’d like to kindly remind everyone that drop off begins at 8:20 AM. For the safety and supervision of all students, we ask that children do not walk to school before this time, as staff will not be available to supervise them. This includes front door drop off as well- which is new this year.

We also want to inform you of an important update to our morning schedule.

Beginning this year, students will be marked tardy if they arrive at or after 8:30 AM.
Please ensure your child arrives on campus ready to begin their day by this time.

We appreciate your support, cooperation, and understanding in helping us ensure a safe and smooth start to the school day.

NEW ROUTE FOR DROP OFF ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH!

Due to high traffic volume in the mornings, we are moving our drop off line traffic to enter at the high school as the map shows below. This will start on Monday, September 8th.

We love that you want to play on our playground afterschool. However, please note that there is no staff supervision.

WHAT'S HAPPENING ON CAMPUS?

skill scales

SKILL SCALES

This year we are recognizing students that have built a new skill! When staff see a child building a new skill, they will fill out a "skill scale" for them. The kids then get to put their scale on our newly painted dragon in our office lobby.

This week, we would like to recognize the following kids for building their skills -

Carter M in 5R
Liam D in 4G
Max S in 4G
Dean in 4G
Oakley in 2B
Anthony in 5B
James C in 5B
Finley B in KH
Maya in 5B

If you know one of these students, please congratulate them and ask them what skills they have built!

Teacher Treats and Snack Bucket

Thank you SO much for supplying us with extra snacks to fill our snack bucket and our students' bellies! We are set for now.

We are now looking to fill our teacher's bellies with extra treats! Every week we would like to treat our teachers and staff to a little something extra from all of you. If you would like to make our teacher's day, please visit our Amazon "Treat Your Teacher" Wish List to donate. All donations will come straight to the school.

HELP NEEDED

Dear Wales/Explore Campus Parents and Caregivers:

One of the activities that your PTO offers to students each week is the School Store. If your child hasn’t already excitedly shared, the School Store runs every Tuesday morning in the library before school starts. It offers students a fun way to support the PTO through the purchase of inexpensive items (i.e keychains, fun erasers, pencils, stickers, etc.). The profits from the school store support our school in various ways, including funding activities like Science and Fine Arts Days.

We are looking for 2-3 adults to help out on Tuesday mornings from 8:00-9:00 a.m. The school store will run from September 23 through the end of May.

Volunteer responsibilities include:

- Simple setup and takedown of school store items
- Assisting younger students with selecting items to purchase
- Checking students out at the point of sale
- Ensuring smooth and nonchaotic functioning of the store

Volunteering at the school store is truly a fun and low-key way to get involved and support our students and educators at Wales/Explore.

Please email Claire Koenig at clairekoenig5@gmail.com to volunteer or with any questions.

Thank you!

HEALTH ROOM MEDICATIONS

Medications in Health Room
As we approach the beginning of the school year, it is requested that any medication that is to be taken at school must have a new medication authorization form on file each school year.

Over the counter medications do not need a physician's signature unless requesting to give more than the recommended dose.

The school district does have ibuprofen, Tylenol, and Benadryl on hand if you are interested in having your child receive a dose as needed, you must also complete a stock medication authorization form linked above (2nd page listed).

If you have any questions, please contact the Health Room at 262-968-6400 ext 3052

WALES AND EXPLORE FAMILY DIRECTORIES

In accordance with our student handbook, families MUST OPT IN to school directories. If you would like your student's info to be available to other students for play dates, birthday invitations, etc, you must fill out the form below. Please fill out one form per child.

If you would like access to the collected information, you must email your classroom teacher or Mrs. Schultz at schultzr@kmsd.edu and ask for the directory, as it cannot be published on any public sites. The spreadsheet you will receive is a live document and will be updated as parents fill out the form.

Once again, you MUST fill out this form for Wales or this form for Explore in order to be included in the directory.

After it is completed, email Mrs. Schultz or your classroom teacher to ask for a copy of the directory.

Thank you for your understanding in helping to keep our families' information as secure as possible.
